Beard trimmer recommendations

My beard trimmer died, just like the last 5 or 8 I've had it was rechargeable and just stopped holding a charge. I'm out, fuck anything with a battery in it. I want one with a cord, preferably an adjustable guard, but at least a couple of little interchangeable ones. I want to buy one more and be done with it. I don't care if it costs an arm and a leg, I want a good one that will last. What say the Salonistas?
(I already have a hair trimmer, and it sucks for facial hair)

I have some big heavy Wahl. It's done the trick for 10 years. It would have been the cheapest corded one for sale at Target in 2002.

I have the same one now, replaced last yr...couldn't have been more than $20

Don't know from beard trimmers, but my head trimmer is an Oster Classic 76. Heavy, but it's unstoppable. Feels like I could shave a wooly mammoth with it and not skip a beat.

I've got something from Wahl, probably in the $20-25 range. The battery is in bad shape after 10+ years but since I've got an outlet next to the sink I just plug it in.

It got a ton of use until about 5 years ago, when I shaved off the beard I'd had for years. Now I grow a little goatee during the cold months and probably run the clipper over it every other week. The blade has held up well.

Andis. My wife's hair guy uses Andis trimmers, and he said they are great. He recommended this one when I asked about a beard trimmer. He's a real pro, cuts hair during fashion week for a bunch of designers, wouldn't screw around with something that didn't work. I haven't gotten one yet, but I will.

I use a Norelco with vacum to keep the hairs mostly contained. Works great and loads of adjustability.

I'll add that not all trimmers even within a brand are created equally. There really is a difference between the pro lines and the consumer lines. The pros use battery powered trimmers but they always have a corded option and they are usually $$. Keeping blades oiled and clean will prolong the life of a pair of trimmers because friction 1.) dulls the blades and 2.) burns out the motor/kills the battery life. I always clean with oil and not water to minimize corrosion.

I just bought a simple corded Wahl, but it is nothing like my old, heavy one. It is light, feels cheap, makes a cheap buzzing noise like a gnat instead of a deep hum like the old one. And, it yanks hair at least once per use, which really pisses me off.

Watch out for the consumer level cheapies, they suck.

Another one using a set of the basic cordered Wahl hair clipper. Number 1 clip for my head, 1/2 for the beard. Easy.

I'm happy with my rechargeable Wahl. The battery holds a charge forever and it does a decent job.

I also use it (without the adjustable "depth gauge") to do my neck below my beard. No shave required. Once a week Monday AM for 10 seconds. I do the whole beard once a month or so. Looks a tad scruffy, but saves a bunch of time.

I use an old corded Wahl. I have no idea how old, but I got it from my Grandmother who used to run a hair salon out of her basement.

The *POP* sound the solid state switch on the side makes when you kick it on still takes me back to playing in that basement as a kid while a couple of blue hairs sat and gossiped under the hair dryers.

I think the thing will outlast me.

I have had this one for many many years. Top is plastic, the rest of the body is aluminum. It was under $100. Recently had the blades sharpened and the innards adjusted, was making a heckuva racket, for $15. The shaver repairman says it'll last forever. Repairable not disposable!

I did buy one for my boyfriend recently, I think it was the Philips BT7215. It had a vacuum so that sold me lol.
