Default what old movies are you watching?

I've given up on anything new and started watching yesterday's old favorites

Last weekend I watched The Long Good-bye, Treasure of Sierre Madre and Farewell My Lovely. All were fantastic. What have you recently discovered. By the way TCM is a treasure -Mike G

Make Way for Tomorrow, and Big Deal on Madonna Street are two films I’ll be re-watching this weekend. One for laughing and one for crying.

    Harold and Maude

I went to see Jane Campion's latest and it was atrocious, just laughably bad.

Huh. Just saw that last night and I thought it was amazing. Interesting.

I think I need to watch some David Lean films.

Not sure this qualifies as "old" but I saw a moment of Cameron Crowe onscreen last night, and decided I probably need to rewatch Almost Famous.

My wife picks the movies on "date night." She chose Big Night which is from 1996, well worth the watch.

This time of year, I can watch the 1970 Scrooge with Albert Finney and never get bored.

For a more modern take which I thought was very good and clever, 'The Man who Invented Christmas' .
I really enjoyed this one for some odd reason.

    TCM,

    "The Hunchback of Notre Dame"
a lovely scene where the King is considering the implication of the newly invented printing press,
and his advisor is telling him to destroy them. The rescue of Esmeralda, a superb example of
    when to use silence.

    Xmas movie "Meet John Doe"
Edward Norton is wonderful as one of the Koch brothers.

Big Night is a great movie. Be prepared to eat after watching it.

You have company. Just thought it was ham-handed and obvious.

"The In-Laws". Alan Arkin and Peter Falk in an odd-couple comedy. Incredible movie. I will also second "Wings of Desire". "In The Mood For Love" has a similar meditative feel, though much more visually lush.

"Big Night" and "Moonstruck" are underrated classics.

The Big Heat, Pickup on South Street, Rear Window, Shadow Of A Doubt, Night Of The Hunter, Out Of The Past, Pursued, The Sting, The Friends Of Eddie Coyle, The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3, Charley Varrick, The Third Man, Touch of Evil, The Big Sleep, Double Indemnity, Strangers On A Train, Kiss Me Deadly... I've watched a lot of noir lately.

I love Peter Falk. Saw the In-laws when it came out. Barely remember it. I must see this again. I keep missing it when its on TV

    I like this film for it’s simplicity…
