    Default REI Flash 18

Anyone have any idea where I can find the older version of the Flash 18 with dual daisy-chains on the sides verses the current version with a single central daisy chain?

Conversely any other bags in this space (size/packabilityl I should be aware of?

I'll have to check the size but I might have an orange one.

A tailor or cobbler could add the dual daisy chains quick as a wink if you brought the webbing.

I've always wondered what that webbing was for. I assumed it was for attaching things, but didn't understand how. Not long ago I was shopping for a YETI cooler, and came across several accessories that attach to the straps. They were all called MOLLE this or MOLLE that, which I learned is an acronym for "Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment." The coolest attachment:

Patagonia has a nice hydration pack called the 9 Trails that I was eyeing the other day. It is 15L, but it has the lash points on both sides. My daily pack (works well on the bike too) is the Patagonia Linked Pack at 16L with small lash loops in double rows on both sides so you can lash stuff on the pack or on either side. Jackets and helmets seem to attach just fine, though if you are lashing saws or shovels, I am not sure that's going to work unless the items are fairly short because the lash straps have to be narrow to fit through the loops.

I've had an older version of the Flash for 6-7 years, they are supremely useful and pack so small/light. It's about worn out though.

I've always found the single center daisy-chain to be almost useless. With 2 rows
you can at least criss-cross some shock-cord and have a place to stash a coat/helmet/etc.

I just need to learn to sew so I can build stuff my way...

Also Black Diamond Magnum 16 and 20. They have two lash straps and an elastic stretch retainer.

Love the Flash. The fabric is thin enough, I betcha a daisy chain could be added with a home sewing machine no prob.
