    Default Foodgasm

Mine is when i taste that first bite of succulent meat from right there where it's falling away from the bone after a good long smoker cooking--- that taste/texture to which i nearly always respond with a burst of energy that manifests itself in a burst of "Fargo Strut*" or hillbilly/irish jumping and jigging, despite the concerned expressions my dogs offer.

I sometimes get it otherwise with a stew or chili or somesuch complex product (not limited to food really) when it comes together beautifully.

I was almost put into this frame of being (if only mentally) by reading john's retelling of the meat as they found it in the Pit Cooking thread. (post 8) http://www.velocipedesalon.com/forum...ing-28089.html

    what's yours?

*funny if anybody remembers what that was...goes to the 70's. hint: nothing to do with ND. actually was a "victory dance" of a pro-"wrestler" known as Jackie Fargo.

Pulled pork sandwich. Not really sure why that of all things, maybe I'm craving bbq right now, but it's one of the only foods that will cause me to let out an audible acknowledgement of enjoyment (when it's good, of course). Let's see if I can convince the vegetarian wife to go out for barbeque.

We just ate fresh corn on the cob, or roasting ears as Mom likes to call them. I cooked them on the grill for the first time, I was very surprised at how well they came out, they were effing incredible. I had a mad case of eat cause it tastes good, hunger be damned. Love that stuff. Had to wrestle my wife for the last one, she won.

I can only recall the last one because every one seems like the first ;)
Latest was at a Russian owned restaurant where the chef serves up wild mushroom soup to freaking die for. It is no holds bared full on all the butter and the stock he makes is heaven sent...can't identify it exactly and don't want to think about it too much but I'm sure he does it right with browned bones, Mirepoix slow simmer...no way that stock is ever boiled that much I know.

We are literally drooling at the table waiting for the soup.

W.P. the other genre of F.G. would involve 99% of everything that anyone makes FOR me when in France and that's my story.

    oui TT, oui-my bucket list.

oh yeah, a really great frothy complex heavy smooth delicious beer will sometimes get me. examples: FCB Chocolate Stout, Yazoo Sue, something from the tap in the hotel at Portland NAHBS...hey DW-when we goin' back?

also, had one at Indy NAHBS as well, a specialty brew of bourbon/wine complexity in the form of beer.

But that's not tekknickkly food, even though the semi-involuntary response is the same.

^ Re: Complex heavy beers; Frangelic Mountain from Founders = Damn hard to get, but it's like drinking an espresso shake. Bonus points for being brewed with Filberts and being an undetectable 9.6% ABV.

Food wise, the Silk Road in Missoula Montana is my food dominatrix. Glad it's 1,000 miles away though as it ain't cheap.
Cottage cheese for dinner, Greek yogurt for dessert, eat that everyday an' it will make your butt hurt.

My wife has allways made fun of the sounds I make whenever I take that first bite of...it changes from soups, to dinners to deserts. I think she thinks I like whatever better than sex.
Last time was an almost frozen, really tart Key Lime Pie in Islamorada.

My foodgasm was from Bombay Brasserie, an Indian restaurant in Houston. I ordered their chicken saagwala, and each bite was a serious 'moment' for me. Pretty much every time I go to an Indian restaurant, now, I order the chicken saag, but it has never been the same. That dish is my Rosebud.

I'd also have to say that salmon sashimi does a pretty good job of getting me there too.

yes, it doesn't have to be "exotic" or "erotic" to trip all the necessary levers, to align senses in ecstatic overload.

    doesn't hurt though.
