I'm wondering if any of y'all can recommend a source for top-mount (ie, over the clear coat) decals that will play nice with powder coating.
SSSInk would be my first choice, but due to time restraints I'm not sure if they'll be an option. Is this something a local sign/print shop would be able to do? Is there a particular type of decal that I should be looking for? I'm really unfamiliar with the terminology and want to make sure I'm asking for the right thing.
I've been using my local sign guy for vinyl. There is several grades of material, generally the thinner it is the better quality it is. I had been worried about longevity with it being over the top of the clear but after re-stickering my brothers bike this weekend and spending 45 minutes getting the old stuff off I am worried no longer.
Every time I need something cut I just have him cut a bunch of extras, I'm building up a nice little stash. Be sure to ask for a little extra room around each piece so you can get the sticky paper onto it cleanly.
VC Graphix does exactly what you want & is what I have used for over 8yrs. They are THIN and look great.
I like stickers on top of powder for high use bikes that see abuse / off road. I tried liquid coats & it just gets pinged up by tiny flying rocks here.
Like Jake says - the vinyl stickers are really hard to remove! - Garro.

While I can not attest to their top mount decals, I have used VC Graphix for under clear decals. Their product and customer service could not be better!
Those of you that have had luck with cut vinyl from your local sign shop and powder coated frames, what specific type of vinyl did you use? I got some 3M Graphic Film series 7125( pretty thin, 2 mils) and while it seems to stick pretty well, after a few hard scratches with a finger nail, it will peel off pretty easily.
I know many of you will suggest I just order from one of the specific decal manufactures, but I am in Korea and would like an easier(closer) solution. Let me know if you've got any constructive ideas. Thanks.
