    Default windows 10 question

    oye,
been using it on a newish laptop...works ok, no issues.
they have put in a new feature that is driving me crazy.
and i cant seem to get rid of it.
    anyone?
when you use edge browser the tabs on the top show a little tab preview that takes up a good portion of the screen.

i cant make it go away. someone?

im just using f fox now again but i did like edge.

whatever group came up w this should be taken out and shot ... too much?
maybe just beaten w a rubber hose for awhile...maybe relegated to working on updates to vista...
little tiny image of the front page of the tab.

I don't have a Win10 computer in front of me to check where that setting is, but, for what it's worth, IMO, etc., Edge sucks as a browser. We see a lot of compatibility issues with various websites. I'd suggest taking Google Chrome for a spin. But I can try to check later if a Windows user here doesn't come up with the answer before I get to work.

I have to use Win10 all the time at home (for Quicken) and work (for work) and I would say avoid Edge at all costs because all it does is crash.

    Use Chrome.
FireFox is not bad but is also not what it used to be.

If I can find the setting you desire I'll post later.

Edge is useless. Firefox is not bad as NYCfixie mentionned but chrome is faster. Chrome memory use is absurd (well not that absurd if you consider the software architecture but still). I haven't tested it yet but heard the newer versions of opera running the same blink engine as Chrome/chromium (it used to run their own presto engine) is great and less memory hungry than chrome and firefox. Maybe you should give it a try ?

The real question is : do you have any use for firefox or chrome extensions. I personnaly can't leave without ghostery and greasemonkey/tampermonkey

Microsoft does have a IE11 download for 10.
For all the reasons Matthew lists.

    ive always used firefox..
    i guess ill try chrome.

    thks for the tips.

its always surprised me that stuff like this is implemented for no reason i can possibly think of...
i know the engineers can come up w this stuff but who thinks its a good idea?

i used to use microsoft word for year and years...
cant even use it anymore.. it is so annoying for a casual user...
i just go to google drive and it does what i want. simple and fast.

I think it's like any other technology; it gets to the point that it does what it is supposed to do and does it well, beyond that, the only way to make it "better" is by adding features that nobody ever uses or really adds nothing to the product. IMO, Word hit its zenith in about 2008; now it's just overburdened and far less intuitive. Same goes for Excel - I used to actually prefer to use excel back in the day for statistical analysis over other statistical software packages because I'm pretty familiar with Excel functions and felt comfortable with it (to the chagrin of my academic department who insisted that it wasn't up to snuff compared to SPSS when, in fact, Excel and SPSS would spit out the same numbers and tables). I open it now and it's less intuitive, more eye candy, overburdened with silly features.

And then there's the modern iteration of ITunes. What a total disaster of conglomeration. Jeez, can I just play some tunes?

If it is a 1 year package than it might be Office 365 which is a whole other cam of worms (and not ready for prime time).

If you know and love Google Docs/Drive, it will be mo' better with Chrome (and chrome extensions).
