No new ink yet, but the process has begun for the next piece.

My latest is only half done - going back for more in October. No photos til then, but I'm excited for it. Also: Providence is fun.

4am train(s), coffee, 11-12 drawing, 12-3 getting in there, quick break/ lunch, and photos/ bandage by 6pm. Chris worked quickly and cleanly, for sure.

The planes, trains and automobiles adventure back to PA was fun, too. Note to self- plan for more clean shirt changes next time.

and so it begins, getting a porkchop (size) from chris trevino next month.
i hear he is the master of the upsale (and that's why there are so many backpieces unfinished by him) so maybe it will turn into a full thigh piece lol.

pretty sure i'm not getting anything traditional japanese but who knows...

Very cool, Cookietruck. I would totally let him talk me into traditional Japanese much larger than initially intended.

    Hey all,
I don't want to get personal, so maybe you could tell me how much an acquaintance of yours has spent on his or her ink to date.
    Thanks much.

Total? Tattoos vary quite a bit based on the artists work, reputation, location, etc. Add in different folks work at different speeds and you get a pretty wide range of pricing. Multiply that out over the years, decades and volume of coverage and it's a pretty wide window. That's like asking how much your friends spend on bikes.

    they're not cheap.
and one of the jokes when i got my first tattoo (this is from a dude that is from mexico city so you can imagine the accent) "are you ready? you sure?!!?!!? this is for life!!!!"

even though it was a joke it is a decent piece of advice. you don't want a budget tattoo...but at the same just because a tattoo isn't cheap doesn't mean it isn't junk...

This thread's been dormant too long. Anyone have anything to share?

i dont have a photo but i finished that tattoo from trevino this tuesday

some funny stories from him for sure. he showed me a crazy higgs tattoo he got on his thigh in the mid 90's.

funny, all the guys these days blasting outlines with huge needles...he put this thing on with a 3. it feels...sharper i guess you could say, definitely no walk in the park.

some kid walked in as he is putting a panther with a crown of thorns on me, after he said hi and all that, the kid says i saw your shop on google and you had good reviews...
chris says..."oh that's cool, by the way i only do japanese"...the kid, which of these books is yours. chris, all of them. the kid opens a book and i hear him say "oh fuck". then he said thanks and walked a out about 90 seconds later.

Both my wife and I got tattooed over the weekend. It's been a while since we both have been hit with the needle, but I'm ready to book another appointment. My tattoo is a memorial/life celebration piece for my mom, American red cross nurse, who past away a few years ago. My wife, Melisa, is going with a full-on chest plate to cover up some juvenile tattoos....here is a picture of mine just after completion. I'll have pictures of hers when it is complete!
