Wow. This guy knows what's up.

Here's the one I've been digging recently. The Hot Rock never clicked with me until someone said "Murder Mystery".

This song kiils me. All jerky, frantic and dark, until Corin floats the most beautiful melody. Then they knot them up together and it's just transcendent:

    And speaking of transcendent.

    GO!

I love Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mack. This vid is super cool. The article is silly, but has cool great details re: this performance. She just absolutely rips into this song and it's awesome.

This young lady is a local from Georgetown, Maine. Her Father was a legendary hellman back in the day, and has evolved into a gentle giant fisherman w/3 daughters. This one sings every chance she gets, and it's a treat to hear her. Could be an original, could be AC/DC, Angel from Montgomery, etc...She was raised on AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Led Zep, et al. July 5th was The Blessing of the Fleet in Five Islands Harbor. I was the lone sailboat, rafted up w/every local lobster-boat from miles around, as we listened to her sing the Star Spangled Banner. It was a hoot! A few wks ago on a rainy Sunday, a good sized crowd toasted the rain at local bar while Lauren sang, including her proud Pop and dancing Family. Maybe it was the beer, but my heart was full watching the whole dam scene, and I'm no sentimentalist. I hope every single dream she has come true, I'll say I knew her when, though to see her perform it's like her dreams have come true. She shines. I mean it, you can see it.

Learning about this gem (and the song) from the True Detective trailer.

Sent the video and the singer's website to my friend in Nashville and said "let me know if you see her walking around town". He said "every girl in Nashville looks like that" ... I gotta move there ... you know, for my son's future.

Been really into Torres lately. Saw her a few weeks ago and was even more sold than I already was.

No singing here, but wow is this cool. Some people really do have incredibly beautiful talent, add some work ethic/commitment, and it's just a gift for the rest of us.

I only recently (like, yesterday) discovered District 97. I may just be a fan.

Fascinating juxtaposition of a singer who clearly grew up in the 90s -- I mean, Leslie Hunt was apparently a finalist on American Idol for chrissakes! -- singing music that owes a huge debt to the oft-marginalized Prog Rock of the 70s. It's like if Grace Slick died young (when she still had that foghorn voice) and then became reincarnated as Kelly Clarkson, but went to work for Eddie Jobson & Steve Vai as a form of pennance.

Sheer raw incomparable talent. Recorded just over two years ago.

When I was a teen testing the rocknroll waters (and very uncool, self-conscious, and of worried parents, etc) my family ate at a Hardrock Cafe while on a trip. Our booth was right under a dress Stevie Nicks wore that had been hung up as memorabilia on the wall. My grandmother leaned over and said to me disapprovingly, "I guess that Stevie Nicks dressed up in women's clothing."

The band's name is Tacocat...that should be enough on its own.

Cottage cheese for dinner, Greek yogurt for dessert, eat that everyday an' it will make your butt hurt.

I just stumbled across this while surfing YouTube. Peri was the singer in my band from 1976-78 when we were both wee teens. Cool thing was, at age 13 her voice already sounded like this:

(Not sure what the deal with the Blackberry is, but since she's always been a comedienne I suspect there was a humorous set-up.)
