One of the wildest times in my life, and i have had a few, was with 400 years. They played at my house and there bus broke down, old shitty school bus, not a fancy tour bus. Anyway, they asked what i was doing for the next month, i drove them around the country in my toyota pickup truck, with a camper on the back pulling a trailer. 7 guys in a toyota pickup for 5000 miles can be very interesting.

    Lots of crazy shit..

One of the best shows ever was at the Fireside Bowl in Chicago. MK-ULTRA, Charles Bronson, and all time favorite Los Crudos. Damn it, man.

Nick Cave has been one of my very favorite musicians for about the last 10 years. He's a genius.

A couple weeks ago I pulled out my old Chuck Berry collection to share w/my daughter. What a pleasure to hear that genius through new ears! The problem was, my record is a shitty "enhanced" fake stereo remix from the late 70s. That got me looking for clean versions of the original recordings. I tracked down this compilation, The Definitive Collection:

And while I was at it, I got the same to update my Buddy Holly:

My God. These are great collections of the best work of r'n'r's first geniuses. The Holly collection is a revelation - I feel like I'm hearing these well-known songs for the first time. "Well... Alright", for one, had me spellbound.

No YouTube links here. My point is that you should be hearing these ancient recordings with the best possible presentation. They're amazing, seminal, monumental.
    GO!

I won't bother to include the vid. Jerk I am a lady done did me so I'm spreading the achey brakey. Moonlight Mile by The Rolling Stones has to be 1 of my top 1 songs that I just fucking love. shoot me. How this chicky gave me pause is one for ages, nonetheless, Mick and Co done did it already and twice as well.

We used to listen to this album all the time when I was a title kid. I purchased it again a few years ago and enjoy listening to it with my three and a half year old. Oddly, I don't really know anything else by Harry Nilsson - I've been meaning to fix that but haven't gotten around to it yet. I do like Neko Case's cover of "Don't Forget Me."

It's a pretty cool album, theres a movie that goes with it thats some animated thing narrated by Dustin Hoffman. I haven't heard a lot of Harry Nilsson stuff either besides that... just that song from Midnight Cowboy and that coconut song.

The Point by Harry Nilsson is one of the albums I bought over the past few years in an attempt to pick up some of the music that I loved when I was a kid. In that same vein, I had been wanting to buy the Pentangle's album Sweet Child for some time and a search for it at the library led me to a compilation album called, Troubadours of British Folk Vol. 1. I love this tune by Martin Carthy:

A few weeks ago I finally got around to getting the Pentangle album too. I'll have to check out some of their other stuff in the near future:
