weekend and today's weight: 178.5, 178.0, 176.5. I ate a lot Friday and Saturday on excuse that Sunday i was doing a century. Post-century yesterday I ate a burger, a pork barbecue sandwich, and Italian ice, then I took my foster daughter out to dinner where i had a turkey burger, and then made dinner for my family and had to eat some (pasta). And today I am at my lowest weight since diet began. maybe i gotta do more centuries.

It doesn't work for me. I have averaged at least a century every other week since April. Still, every pound fights for its right to stay a part of my body.

Today's weight is 175. My college weight (1980). Had to weigh myself twice this morning, I couldn't believe it.

I weighed 213.5 when I started on June 1. I took the title of this thread literally- that is, I intended to lose 20 pounds, and be in the mid to low 190s. Then I posted something about my college weight, and how I'd never get there again, and Tom Officer posted something about how I could get there, and I just kept riding and eating healthy and here I am.

So that's it for me. I intend to keep eating this way and to monitor and maintain this weight, but no more posting my weight every morning. I'll be checking in to see how others are doing. Good luck dhoff.

Thanks to all of the encouragement.

    Congrats, Michael.

I seem to be heading the opposite direction. Work has been stressful lately, which always seems to bring back my old behaviors. Not drinking enough water, snacking, take-out food, etc., and the motivation to get on the bike just hasn't been there. My last ride was a couple of days shy of four weeks ago. I haven't been on the scale since my last post here three-ish weeks ago. I need to find some motivation.

Late to the party here, but I've been loosely following this thread for months and you all are inspiring.

Little background before I give this a go:

I normally fluctuate between a fit-ish 6' / 175lb to a winter hibernation 185-190lb... but crept up to 194 (highest ever) this past winter. My regular morning ride buddy's schedule this year's been full of early meetings so I've ended up hitting the snooze more than I'd like to admit. Wife's been working eves so that keeps me from the weekly team hammer rides. Usually by July I've shed it all. I was slowly down to 183 a couple months ago en route to the 170s, but slipped off that routine lately and back up to 190. I'm not looking to lose 20 because I enjoy still being able to do 10 reps of my weight on the bench press. Just need to lean on you all here to be accountable for a good 10-15 before the holidays.

    10/1: 190

    Thanks & cheers

    Kevin

I am still around after a brief sabbatical, currently at 203.6. Even when I wasn't reporting, I was hovering.

There may be light at the end of the tunnel. Unless something changes, the stressful project, which was never supposed to take any of my time, will be finished up this week instead of being dragged out for another month or more (already 2+ months late). It would make for a great Thursday grump if only I didn't sign up with my real name...

First step, hydrate, then back on the scale and the bike.

Have to say, riding won't do it. This is a war that is won in the kitchen and almost only in the kitchen. If you can stick to 1800 kcals per day the weight _will_ come off. I know when I was doing it, and Tom echoed, the easiest thing to do is just to try to eat the same things as much as possible.

For me, it was something like:
7am: Two hard-boiled eggs (140 kcal) sub oatmeal or omelette or Greek yoghurt rarely
    10am: Banana (70 kcal)
1pm: Lunch, 90% of the time grilled chicken breast and brown rice (~500 kcal)
3pm: Banana and maybe an orange (~70 - 200 kcal)
    5pm: Carrot sticks (~40 kcal)
    7pm: Dinner (~800 kcal)

You can have an extra banana for every hour you ride in the week. This is a fair trade-off. An hour of aerobic riding should knock off 600 kcals. So you can have 70 back. You're trying to lose weight, after all.
