Baggio's shot from 1994 still hasn't landed yet. Think he still wears that mullet?

    Germany 3, Italy 1.

God It sucks to be an England supporter.... beaten by a spelling mistake!

They defended well but still toothless in the final third...... Italy deserved it but they still looked below par for an Italian side....

    Spain Germany final then....

Yeah the fate of an England supporter is always the same, suck a little, send a glimmer of hope, get excited, lose on pens

The key to supporting England, i've found, is not to get your hopes up.

I started the match rooting for Italy but ended it rooting for England. Jesus though, 35 shots? And how many blocked by the English defense? Those guys must be black and blue today. Too bad I'm flying out of Warsaw the day Portugal plays Spain in town. I don't have tickets but I bet the atmosphere is going to be great.

I never understood why England has always been considered a "top" team. I mean, they have as many major tournament wins as who...Greece? Czechoslovakia? They embarrassed themselves out there yesterday and they're lucky they don't have to play Germany. It's basically the soccer equivalent of being a Cubs fan, right?

Cubs fan, now that is a good analogous relationship, but the Cubs generally don't have so many top players (supposedly) they don't know what to do with themselves, which is England's problem. Or maybe they aren't top players, but I find that hard to believe.

I disagree..... for a team that has been assembled at short notice with a Manager only appointed 3 weeks ago they have punched above their weight in this competition....... nobody has defended better, they have nothing to be embarassed about except losing by Penalties.... again!

I agree with the "top team" comment though....

Actually, the Czech Republic won the Euro Championships in 1976 (as Czechoslovakia which ended in 1992) and were runners up in 1996. Greece won the Euro Championships in 2004 (after beating the Czechs on a last second goal to get there.) So in terms of the Euro Championships, Britain isn't quite up to either. The Brits do come out a bit better in the World Cup though.

That was my point...Greece and Czechoslovakia have the same number of tournament wins as England, yet no one considers/considered them a top team. Put it this way...if you're a team that gets to choose which team to include in your group and you have to choose between the USA, England, Denmark or Greece...most teams would choose England in a heartbeat. Not a single English national team player would even sit the bench on a team like Germany, Spain or Brazil. Well...MAYBE Gerrard and Terry but I doubt it.

Ashley Cole, Germany would give their right arm for a player like him at left back.

So what's the prediction then? Should be a fun one regardless. Considering Ronaldo is playing half his team and the other half is Barca.

Okay guess, I will go first. 4-2 open game; Portugal wins.

Portugal's been a nice story but I think Spain will work CR7 & Co. tonight to the tune of 3-1

Just got back to the house. Haven't looked at scores. Spain will win 2-0.

edit: And I am immediately wrong. Now into extra time 0-0.
