    Caught myself.

Consciously rode the atb this evening and caught myself getting too far over the bars leading in to the steeps. Sorta sprinting into the climb with the one-gear.

    So I'll work on it.

I tried this tonight...could it be that I feel like I'm pushing from my core more? Or is it just that I have no core strength so everything I do feels like exertion there?

    It's all about the hips.

There are many muscles in the hip doing a lot of work, driving your leg from the 11:00
position over the top, down to the 3:00 position

    Default Cancellara vs. Gilbert

I was just thinking about the whole sprinting aspect and how it has changed since the brifter invention. Many pro's no longer have their bikes fitted for riding in the drops as they spend 90% of the time on the hoods. I was watching the last stage of the tour of Suisse and noticed that Gilbert and Cancellara where both on top of the hoods. Some may say its easier to shift from there but I call that butkiss. I have never had a problem shifting from my drops with any of the modern day brifters. Mainly do to the use of a round bend bar that allow a very accessible reach to the controls. With a anatomic bar your hands are moved further from them.

Anyhow back to the point of the two racers. Wouldn't the riders want that little bit more aero and more powerful position of using the drops ? Could that have been the winning move for Belgians great Gilbert ?

Ill kick it off with one from me: Lead with your shoulder

Your shoulder is what ultimately steers the bike. Leading with your shoulder helps ensure correct weight balance and shifting. Turning left, lean in with your left shoulder and let it lead the way. It takes your mind off what the handle bars and front wheel are doing, and lets your unconscious mind and the bike work out the lean angle and line for you.
this is patently bad form and technique for turning.

please ignore this advice, its random, dead wrong, and dangerous on many levels all at once.

Wiki rocks! No mud on my cleats (scraped it all off), and increased power without working harder.

    Thanks
