Re: Help losing 20 lbs
Not much riding, not much motivation, but not much change in weight either. 199.x as of this morning (don't remember the decimal number).

Re: Help losing 20 lbs
A word of caution about the whole body fat being too low.....I'm down to 133.2 / 4.2% (Tanita scale) and yep I know I'm on the edge a bit, but other than that it's really a timing issue for me with my end of season goals approaching. I feel strong and fine. Riders have been competing in the low single digits for years and years. What Nate is going through might be the result of many other factors, not just a disruption to his metabolism as a result of low body fat. He's relatively new to the sport, doesn't have the long history of fitness at that low weight and body fat and things are complicated with his crashes and recovery. Everyone is different, so it's not necessarily a good idea to start making blanket statements about what a good weight/body fat is.

Re: Help losing 20 lbs
Tom,
Once your season has ended, will you naturally take your foot of the gas and let your weight drift up a few pounds as you also cut back the high intensity riding?

As much as I'd prefer not to put on any weight, I'm quite sure I will. The battle will be whether it's more than 5 lbs!

Re: Help losing 20 lbs
I find that as I've gotten older, maintaining a body weight in a small range rather than yo-yo'ing up and down is much easier. I vary +/- 3 pounds year round. Once you get to a good weight for you and adapt to a maintenance diet (meaning good food choices and calorie level) there is no obvious need to change with the seasons.
Current stats (withings): 133 and 5-6% depending on day. It's coming up on a year since joining the VS weight thread.

Re: Help losing 20 lbs
A few days off the bike, a few days on travel and eating large meals with family, and the expected weight gain. But had a great time!
Weight Friday, Saturday, and then today = 182.5, 185.5 (!), and today 187.0.
