I remember my brother hesitatingly asking me to listen to "Gentlemen". My own brother? How could have had any doubts I'd love this?

Buffalo Tom, "Summer". This record always reminds me of driving down from Boston to the Cape, crammed into my crappy Civic with my best friends. Good stuff.

Acoustic version, sounds better than the original one, IMO.

I saw him in December. It was revelatory.

And, coincidentally, this is playing on the DVD right now:

Of course Dylan penned the original aka "Rock Me Mama" but Old Crow Medicine Show did it well a while ago taking it to its current "Wagon Wheel" state. I know Darius Rucker has his version now too but a little late to the game.

I don't understand why I believe that Depeche Mode can do no wrong but I do.

It might have something to do with catching Enjoy the Silence on MTV when I was 9.

I probably don't know Janis' work well enough (outside her most famous songs) but I don't see a similarity. I think Ann Wilson's voice is (was?) freak-of-nature strong. Neko Case is the only other person I can think of who sings that forcefully and clearly.
