Doing all my pushups for him.
I think he had a bike for sale in the classifieds?
Bet he could use the cash - can't wait until he's back here shooting the shit, I was out for 10 days & the first thing I said was for my wife to contact all my clients & tell them I would be back to work ASAP & I was sorry, so I'm hoping the best - the only thing I can't recall is my accident, which is just fine with me.
Rally, brother!

Here's to a full and complete recovery. Take your time to return to work. A head injury is a sneaky dirty bastard. Trust me it lies to you.
Hey guys, I'm still kicking!
Still having a hard time with memory, don't really remember much of the last couple weeks and nothing from Wed through sometime Thurs. But I am alive and God is good!

Jason, I'll remember this for you!

You know, Tuesday you'd promised to mail me your FTW welded Musgrave frameset free of charge with 8-10 FMB's tossed in to pad the thing. Just my luck you can't remember saying anything of the sort...
...Spend time with your kids, and take a LONG time before heading out on a ride getting your balance back and regaining your ability to focus.

I'm so sorry to hear about this accident, but it sounds like you've got wonderful family and friends all around.
If you need any medical advice feel free to PM. Recover soon!
Funny story about that! When I "came to" sometime on Thursday I was freaking out major. First my pillow felt kinda weird - I looked back to see a huge hospital absorbent pad with blood on top of my pillow. In the process I uncovered my feet and discovered a pair of hospital socks - "why am I wearing these?!". Then I looked at my wrist and saw I was wearing a hospital band and had had an IV in my arm - "why do I have these on me?!" Next something tugged on a chest hair, I lifted my shirt to discover EKG pads all over my chest - "honey what happened to me?!?!" Heather was of course trying to calm me down all along. About that time my head started spinning and she was trying to explain to me that I had staples in the back of my head. Anyway finally I looked at my watch to try and figure out what time it was...and I was wearing my Suunto - which I never do unless I am going backpacking. "Why am I wearing this watch???" Heather having no clue tried to explain to me how I got hurt and that I probably put it on because I knew I was going to get wet. "But my other watch is wayyyy more waterproof then this one!" Finally head spinning I flopped back down on the pillow and said "it's because I bought a new watch, its the ONLY reason I would have taking the Tsunami off!" And them promptly fell back asleep...only to repeat the whole thing 2 hours later. lol.

It was absolutely terrifying. You get used to the idea that your body may fail you occasionally...but your mind is always sharp. It goes south pretty quick when you wake up not having a clue, and barely being able to remember your son's birth over a month ago.

Hang in there man. Heal up and take things slowly. I'm really glad to hear you're coming around.
Auk's words to live by:
Blow up and pin a picture of M. Bartoli on your wall. When you achieve that position, stop. Until then, stretch, ride, stretch, ride, eat less, and ride more.
Its good to hear he sound of you typing again, J.
Just wanted to re-emphasize this point from our resident neuropsychologist. While I'm loath to play Internet Doctor, I do want to offer more hope in that every single previously-healthy individual I've assessed or treated who had mild to moderate memory loss as a result of mild TBI (besides some individuals with risk factors that, as far as I know, you don't have) made a complete, full, 100% recovery and, besides not recalling details of the injury or much at all from the day or so before the accident, can now remember as much as they could pre-accident.
Regardless, sounds very scary indeed. Very happy to hear that you are recovering.

^^ yeah that post was particularly helpful in brightening my outlook when Heather read it to me the other day. I'm getting there, slow and steady wins the race!

Glad to hear you are on the road to recovery, Jason!
Ever watched yourself and it's like watching a total stranger?! This vid doesn't ring a single bell in my head.
To sk_tle who thought I might be doing something stupid...yeah in retrospect maybe my 'bucket' was a bit big...but you have to remember that I work at a boarding school and was nominated by one of the students. Why would a student nominate a staff member (it's no accident I was the first), it's because they wanted to 'see something.' At the same time we were struggling with their mentality about the whole thing...thinking this is some kind of "social prank" - not realizing how serious ALS is, etc. The day before we had stopped dumping water on anyone that didn't pay their $10 to the school (to be forwarded to the foundation) because it was just a joke to them. Anyway I do remember thinking that I wanted to try and turn that mentality...and at the same time give them the 'show' they were after. I also guess I didn't realize that my co-worker would dump the bucket as slow as humanly possible, lol.
Anyway, I guess it ^^ didn't work out so well for me. My wife filmed this with my phone. This is as much as I have seen, I guess I passed out ~7-10 seconds after she shut off the camera. I just spoke with the boys dean, he said he was about 30' away and felt my head hit the ground under his feet. Here is the mother of all brain-freezes:

I'm so glad you are back!
I had a friend crack his head just like you did at a family reunion with a skateboard, he's still not all there.
Of course, all this could be an illusion………

Glad you are recovering, take your time and as a parent of 2 little girls I hope you'll get full recollection of your son's birth. In the meantime, enjoy the family time!

Glad to hear you are better. I still remember coming to after I sustained a head injury skiing; It all of the sudden felt like a war movie, where after a bomb goes off, there is silence, and then everything comes crashing back to you. It was at that point that I became aware that two thoughts were going through my head, my name, and my address. The medics told my parents I had been repeating my self for a while. Thankfully I had no residual effects from it. Rest up, and I found less digital/visual stimulation helped for a short bit as well.
