If you’re a skier in NE, and not a football fan, I bet you like the pats anyway. Short lines on so many Super Bowl Sundays.

Same here Steve...the safest time to ride a bike on the road in Pittsburgh is when a Steelers game is being played...birds chirping, the sound of tires meeting the road and me panting heavily while attempting to pedal...that's all that you can hear. I usually watch the game afterwards in 7 minutes on Yahoo Sports, as the average football game has I believe 11-14 minutes of actual playing time...from the snap to the whistle.

Best time to go food shopping is 30 min before the game starts - the stores are empty of the "fans" and all the Sh*t food they eat, plenty of fruit/veggies.

And Yes - skiing on Sunday the slopes are relatively quiet and then by 11:00 am the remaining fans (skiing in Patriot jerseys) leave by 11:00 am to head home and it turns into a weekday level of crowd.

Last Sunday was a joy - getting a little bummed out that my youngest is turning into a Boston sports fan - so far it is only football. I have been successful in keeping the oldest away from the 4 main American/Commercial sports

We tapped the last game for the youngest and blew through the commercials and the commercial timeouts(still having trouble figuring that one out) - Family settled down thinking the game would be 3 hrs - they were shocked when it was over and I turned off the TV after 45 min - I can not fathom how people watch 2-3 games on a Sunday during the regular season

Riding during the 1st half of the Super Bowl is always a great ride on empty roads. The 2nd half of the game is usually better anyways.

Both the NFL and MLB have (or at least used to have) a 'condensed game' product that you could buy and watch after the fact.
I did some research on it when it looked like we might be moving to the UK at one point. Apparently lots of folks over there watch an NFL game on Monday mornings before heading to work. (Based on the Giants' season this year, I'd have had a crappy start to most of my workweeks in that scenario.)

We saw "I, Tonya" during the championship game, then went to a Taiwanese restaurant in Chinatown.
Both the theater and restaurant were busy.
So we're not all watching football here.

Spent the first half of the first Seahawks Super Bowl (vs. Pittsburgh) up at Crystal Mountain enjoying a beautiful bluebird day.

Game time meant the day was pretty much over as the second half began. Which was good, because the lifties were giving me dirty looks for keeping them away from the TV.

There is, on average, about 12 minutes of play in a professional football game.

Thanks for the math. I did not time the fast forward perfectly to avoid every bit of lost time from the tackle to the huddle to the snap, but yes there is literally 12 min of live play over a 3 hr broadcast.

football is a perfect construction to make the most of television.
games are meaningful cause they only play once a week.
    games last exactly 3 hrs
plenty of time for commercials as noted.
    the highlights are pretty superb
there is often tension at the finish to make it interesting

Imagine if a Monday night football game between let's say Dallas and Green Bay ended in a scoreless tie after 90 minutes of actual playing time, and maybe 4-5 minutes of overtime, just to make things more interesting? Fans would be throwing each other over the stadium walls, referees would be burned at the goalposts and players would need to seek protection from projectiles. Only the real football (soccer) can draw millions of obsessed fans who drink, sing and eat meat pies during the match, so that they might be able to argue with passion later at the pub, the highlights of a naught/naught draw. The beautiful game indeed.

    .

Packer fans like win this. They’re simply to heavy to be hoisted over the stadium walls.

Anywho since y'all have played out the politics...

If you are not hardwired to the net during StuporBowl. Friend, infact if you do not care who win's or loses? DO YOU unabashedly watch for the Pop Culture. Was the best thing ever the Budweiser Frog?

I texted my bros today that I was rooting for a power outage with the score tied at 49 in the fourth quarter.

The actual result was just as satisfying. Fun game.
