Just finished season 1 of 4 of The Killing. Well written and great direction.

Got to love the guys who write Dexter.
Couldn't stand Dexter, didn't even make it through the first episode a couple years ago. But I'm loving Stranger Things....so 80's, so Stephen King.
Thanks, Colker, you're my bizarro TV critic!

Show has way too many red herrings - but the acting by some of the characters is fantastic.

The best place to get Spiral in the US is MHZ Choice. $10.00 a month. Along with Spiral MHZ carries another worth watching French series - A French Village which follows the lives (and deaths of course) of the people in a small French village in France during the WW2 occupation.

MHZ carries a number of other European shows including Swedish Wallander and Beck, another Swedish detective show. A lot of the other offerings - especially the Italian stuff are pretty much a waste. After the last episodes of the above mentioned shows are over I will probably drop my subscription.

I liked it. It has a heavy, suffocating atmosphere and it's the actors who make it interesting.

The Killing (Gillian Anderson) is another good show.

I don't know if there are English subtitles for the Spanish series "Crematorio", which describes very well the speculative property business and corruption.

We've been enjoying Mr. Robot. Binge-watched season 1. Very well-written, which is sadly pretty rare these days. Definitely worth checking out

    We like the following:

    - Better Call Saul
    - Fargo- especially season 2
    - Veep
    - Vinyl - terrible plot but brings back memories of music from my youth
    - The Bridge (Danish/Swedish version)
    - Endeavour - early days of Inspector Morse in Oxford
    - Grantchester - Just after WW2, local vicar solves murder mysteries with police friend in Cambridge
    - Night Manager

I'm in for Peaky Blinders. Also I didn't see one prop for Orphan Black. That is one tour de force acting job there.

Anything new on Netflix or Amazon? I've just finished Six Feet Under which was very good as it spiraled into darker and darker motifs.

If you're into Stephen King (and X-Files and Twin Peaks), I highly recommend Stranger Things.

We finished off Stranger Things and liked it. Filmed ~30mins from our new house.

I watched the whole EIGHT seasons of Dexter, hooked and having a lot of fun. Unpretentious, wild and camp sense of humour, original, character and dialogue driven, cast having as much fun as audience, Miami and cuban music. My all time favourite TV series.

Counterpoint: Despite watching them all, season 4 was the last worth watching, and the last season was borderline unwatchable.

I know.. there were some severe lows w/ Debra crying one episode after the other but the writers managed to create good moments w/ funny lines. the ending w/ Dexter looking a full on monster serial killer in the pacific northwest was as dark as it could be.

I watched it end to end after my last bad crash when I was stuck at home unable to do anything. I had so much momentum after the first 4 that I couldn't stop, but had I been able to do much of anything else I would have probably stopped.
