just finished listening to the new Tron soundtrack for the 5th time.

If you're a Daft Punk fan, this will blow your mind. They've stuck to the theme of Tron quite nicely in their composition, but added a sound I never thought I'd hear from these guys.

don't be fooled, the entire record is not one that can be played in a night club, in fact some of it is quite beautiful.

If you like hiphop, DJ Vajra is great, his albums are free downloads: PodOmatic | Podcast - DJ Vajra's podcast - Red Bull Thre3style USA Nationals Finals Set I recommend Saul Good Vol1 and the Hydef mixtape.

This is a shot in the dark.

I don't know jack about hiphop or rap. A few years back when the genre started taking over the airwaves on FM, I heard a very minimalist vocal song that was just an extended play with words. It was slow motion in contrast the the rapid fire delivery of most hiphop or rap. Hey, I'm not sure I understand the distinction. It was much more like jazz than what I know of hiphop or rap. Anybody want to take a shot in the dark to identify what the heck I'm trying to describe.

As a side note, the Fugees were described as a hiphop group. I like this by them.

    Thanks for any guesses.

Not directly related, but this label is very worth looking at if you want a taste of West Africa's 1965-1980's musical produce.

Phil Ade and Donnis have been most played on my iPod for a few months now. Me thinks Donnis might have a little more star power.

Phil Ade - Starting on JV
Donnis - Diary of an Atlanta Allstar
    Donnis - Fashionably Late

    downloadable albums/ mixtapes

The new to me shit that's been blowing my mind lately...

Pastor T.L. Barrett & the Youth for Christ Choir. Seriously, this rips my head right off...

Deerhunter. They're so poppy, but so lush and atmospheric...

Graham Nash. Songs For Beginners. Like I said, new to me. So personal, but so universal...

Curren$y. Dude's just got such great flow...

    Thanks all,

At taking a stab to match what I heard once a few years back. Even though the mark was slightly off, I enjoyed most of what was posted. I loved the gospel above.

Back to the original piece. It was much more minimalistic. One word, pause, another, that was related or changed the original meaning, and so forth. No planned sentences, or tied phrases.

Hey I liked it on one hearing, maybe I'd think it sucks today, but I would like a second chance.

Thanks again for all that took a shot.

Speaking of Digable Planets, Ishmael Butler's new thing is called Shabazz Palaces and it's surprisingly excellent.
