Car issues. Wednesday I got into my car to drive to the "day" job (it was before 4am), and no headlights. Figured it was a fuse. Nope -- high beams work, no low beams. I do some quick online checking and take my wife's car to work. Get the relay... Nope. Still no low beams. Try swapping out a bulb just to make sure. Nada. Replace the multi-switch for the steering column. Still nope. So the car is in the shop getting all the electrical checked. At least I was only about $45 into it before this.

Ride my bike to work in the rain this morning...

Is this a reference to the "First Family"?

OK, I am a day early. MY alarm clock died during the night so I overslept. I rush to get ready and decide to drive. Since I am late, I decide to use the toll road, $2.50 for about a two mile drive. I am through the toll booth and realize that I forgot my ID which gives me access to a secure garage and building and has the key to my office. So I turn around and pay another $2.50 toll. I am rushing down the stairs in my house and turn my ankle. I decide it would be much better to work from home, as the planets are aligning against me.

Broke a rear spring on my beloved 2005 Prius on the way home last night. Front shock has been on it's last legs for a while. To re-do all 4 corners on this thing may be the death knell... Repairs approaching 10% of replacement cost of a good used one and I think I gotta make a change. Pity, it has been such a champ...

    • Project Manager calls my staff at 3pm yesterday asking for access to our computing center at 6am today.
    • Throws a fit when he's told we can open it for him at 8:30am.
    • I call him and explain he can either give us sufficient notice to arrange for a very early-morning meet-up, or he can have short-notice access during our normal business day.
    • He calls my logic "idiotic" and "ridiculous" and threatens to call my boss and our CEO.
    • We get him in before 7am this morning and he pretends his whole outburst never happened.

An employee at my LBS was leaving the shop on Monday and backed out too quickly in her boyfriends Toyota Tundra scraping and denting my WRX rear driver-side door and quarter panel. She is apologetic and finds me in the shop, I get her name and number only as she is late to pick up her children, hence her hurry. I get an estimate the same day; fix involves so much painting that I will be out of my car for around 7 days. I have spent the last few days trying to get her on the phone so I can get her insurance information, but she left for an Ironman in California and has been less than responsive. I don't doubt I will get her info (I mean I know where she works and her contact info) and get this fixed, it just irks me to no end that she can't take time to do this so that I can start the process

Spent yesterday and today sorting through data trying to find correlations between product specifications and material waste. My desk is covered with scratch paper with data and calculations. My organization skills are being tested.

Every year, I try to manage my tax withholding through the year to minimize my bill due April 15.
And every year, I miss due to some previously unknown reason or another.
Probably time to hire a tax advisor. Grumble grumble.
    my name is Matt

The last couple of years our tax situation has been in serious flux. I think we finally reached the 'new normal' with 2016. Our withholdings, it turns out, are seriously out of whack. In a good direction, fortunately!

Our government... the only entity in society that has no competition. Think about it.

It's early but I will gladly do the push-ups.

Having to walk through Fenway on Red Sox opening day as a born and bread New Yorker and Yankees fan.

It does not get much worse than this.

I an not sure we have the same definition of "professional" regarding sports teams especially regarding that motley crew known as the Red Sox

Seasonal allergies. The worst I can remember. My nose, sinuses and palate all actually hurt. I'm running like a faucet, sneezing explosively every 10-15 minutes, it's even beating up my lungs and I feel vaguely sick. If I hadn't had a vendor on site who flew in all the way from Oregon to work with us for three days this week I don't think I'd have gotten out of bed. Needless to say I had just gotten my fitness back on the bike after the last interruption so another break wasn't planned.

Though it is nothing compared to all of you that have a good friend gone this day.
