Re: tote for files, computer, etc
As a writer who has taught writing, both expository and creative, writing with a pen on paper and writing with a computer are not the same, they do not cancel each other out, nor are they interchangeable. They result in different expression, different ideas, because they have a different relationship with the brain and how the brain works.
That's different, not better or worse. Similar to the difference between saying something and writing it out. Or hearing it and reading it.
I would be skeptical of someone who could only do one or the other and not be able to recognize which one is required by the task at hand.

Don't you just hate it when you are writing with pen and paper, and your pen writes, 'Aw, Snap!' and you have the frowny face file forcing you to get a new sheet of paper.

That said, I just got this bag from Greenroom 136, it is great for a laptop and files:

The only review for this bag on Amazon has a note about poor quality. Your thoughts? My comparison would be my old Timbuk2 Dee Dog bag.
The price of the Greenroom136 bag is attractive.

I too owned a dee dog for years. It is a different bag, the dee dog I had was totally 100% utilitarian (1994 I think?). This has more features and nice touches. I like it quite a bit after a few weeks with it. I bought it for my camera, to be a bit undercover. But I actually like it so much I use it as my office/work bag now.
Would I use it as a professional courier? No, but I wouldn't use any single strap courier bag. I would buy a 100% waterproof SealLine 2 Strap Backpack.
Cheers,
-Joe
