oh, and I'm pretty sure this seasonal as well. Days are short, we've had tons of rain, and what else can you do when you're stuck indoors. Damned if I'm riding a trainer.

I mean, you have the Cascades, the ocean, views of mt Baker, a stable of sweet bikes... Just ride more and keep enjoying enjoyable beer.
We save it for weekends. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday you'll see me (or my wife if you're lucky) doing the shaker dance. Manhattans or Scotland Yards, none of that clear stuff. Usually one and never more than two.

I feel ya Jason, we've had a very wet and almost daily rainfall since the beginning of Dec. In fact, December was the wettest month we've ever recorded. So far Jan has been more of the same. Even when we get a bit of drying, it's only for half of the day.
Add to it that I've spent 4 and half months off the bike for Cervical Fusion Surgery and I'm up 15lbs.
I deny myself quite a bit; but I love my IPA's and Oregon Pinot Noir and that makes me happy. The weight will come off as the riding and suffering increases. We just need EL Nino' to Eff Offo'.
Life short dude; enjoy your family, your bikes, and your IPA.
I gave it up for a few months. Then, one day...I had a Pinkus organic wheat. Now I'm back to 1 a day max. I just like the taste...especially a good wheat. Espresso in the morning, water throughout the rest of the day, and a beer at night. That's pretty much all I drink. I won't drink a beer just because it's a beer.
Watson gave up beer for bourbon. Or something like that. It's in Bicycle Mag.

I suggest eating less bread, less cheese and more bananas. Bananas at breakfast.. especially when you finnish a ride. Even when you are hungry at night. It's healthy, you will feel great and may lose weight. Bananas are an energy supply. Light, clean and a lot of potassium.
slow.
Auk's words to live by:
Blow up and pin a picture of M. Bartoli on your wall. When you achieve that position, stop. Until then, stretch, ride, stretch, ride, eat less, and ride more.
My nightly bourbon is 95 calories. You can easily trim 95 calories from something else during the day. I'd keep drinking.
A local bike shop owner slash coffee roaster collaborated with Boulevard recently and just released this. Body isn't sure what time of day to drink it.

Ballast Point calories don't count
Reminds me of the old bodybuilder double edged brag, "I'm cutting but everyone thinks I'm building."
The older you get the less room there is for indiscretion and rebuilding. Cut out everything and show up and angry unmitigatable cuss at the beginning of the season. All your buddies will be glad to see you get slightly fatter and slower but much much happier. Once that baseline is in place you can effectively take the pressure off yourself. Everyone wins.
I made a new years resolution to drink more, easiest resolution ever. I'm mostly drinking red wine, I'm on my second box of the year. I also enjoy scotch old enough to by itself a drink. And Balcones Baby Blue. And a good Rye.
When I was in the military, I worked long hours and swore to myself that I would drink more in retirement. I'm living that dream now.

I'll drink some red whenever I want. I am Sicilian for goodness sake. I cut elsewhere.
Beer...I limit myself to two a week. Two good beers a week. Something high gravity with some ass.
I would rather drink some alcohol and skip the bread and sweets.
