Actually married. Saddleback hits a lot of the targets of the OP (sturdy leather, high quality, understated/not flashy and unlikely to attract a thief), but perhaps I missed on the fashionable aspect. I have purchased a lot of bags for my wife over the years (Cole Haan, Marc Jacobs, Coach, Kate Spade, and yes Saddleback among others), but I guess neither of us would be considered a bag-ista.
