I was impressed on I-5 south of SF by what appeared to be a mid-60s survivor Ranchero. White with red interior, red wheels, hub caps, skinny tires. Slow and weathered and probably smelly and just right.
Points to that BMW owner for keeping the BBS wheels. Points off for the rubber band tires.
You mean that part where I said "if it was an El Camino..."? (cough)

davids knows his classics...this fellow does too...he's just trying to time the market in terms of getting his ElCamino back on the road.

hey, how lucky can one man get.
That Elco needs driveline out, media blasting, paint, LSx / T56 transplant, in that order.
that's really cool, thanks. Two weeks ago I was parking next to a race prep'd Boss 302. M'gawd that engine screamed.

And to go to the other end of the spectrum. Rented a car for business to drive to Cleveland and back, 7 hours each way. All they had was a Kia Forte. I determined that the car was not meant to be driven for any amount of time all at once. The best part was when I put my foot to the floor and it went to 7000 rpm and managed not to accelerate one bit. Not to mention the seats. Please don't make me remember that.
And the steering wheel. No idea whose hands they used to design it but there was no comfortable way to hold it with strange goiter like swellings on it. Plus, a car with 2000 miles on it hitting bumps and the rear end shifting six inches left each time.
if its a major rental place, stop in at the next one on your travels and tell them it feels broken. usually they will exchange it...
worthwhile if your going to spend a few days in it.... but it does take time to fill out the paperwork

Cool car! My Saddleback wallet is a number of years old now, purchased upon the recommendations in this forum. I suppose it’s going on a decade? Surely 6 or 7 years. Just getting broken in now. If I don’t lose it I’m sure it will be the last wallet I ever buy.
If the leather in this vehicle is even half as good it will last the life of the future owner.
La Cheeserie!
Amie and I wandered through a car show a few weeks back, and there were a couple El Camino's there. I threatened to buy her one for hay/straw hauling duties...
"As an homage to the EPOdays of yore- I'd find the world's last remaining pair of 40cm ergonomic drop bars.....i think everyone who ever liked those handlebars in that shape and in that width is either dead of a drug overdose, works in the Schaerbeek mattress factory now and weighs 300 pounds or is Dr. Davey Bruylandts...who for all I know is doing both of those things." - Jerk
