Sorry the lighting wasn't better. Just to clarify, the painted areas have an 80% matte finish. The red is redder than red. Super bright but not neon. I custom mixed the slatish gray metallic. Greg asked me for a "kinda' gun-metal, kinda' not" color. So there you go. I think he came up with a really classy pattern. Kind of unusual, but not one that looks out of place at all. And finally, I placed my signature on the down tube because my usual place on the left chain stay will have a brake line covering it up.

+1. Stunning.
I like it.
Can you wedge a bigger 650 than a 38 in there? What length are the chainstays?
It might take a 42 depending on how it actually measured out, but it would be tight. Chainstays are 43.3mm. The 650b capability was really an afterthought as opposed to intentional design criteria.
Sure, why not.

Mornin' all. Just got a nice note from a recent customer. Thought I'd share it and include a few photos:
Tom,
I am not sure what I can say about the bike that hasn’t been captured by previous customers. The bike is like a magical piece of artwork… part Picasso, part german automobile, part Saville Row suit. I’ve put about 60 miles on the bike so far over a combination of flat and rolling terrain. Most importantly, the bike fits. My riding position is very comfortable, more so than on my previously meticulously fitted bike. The bike handles beautifully. It tracks a perfectly straight line, and corners like it is actually carving… and as a former ski racer, I know what carving feels like. It just feels so solid. Any attempt at acceleration is met with an immediate response. I’m not sure if my old IF had softened with age, but I feel like this bike accelerates before I even translate thought into motion. I have not spent more than 90 minutes on it yet, but there is nothing harsh at all about the ride. I’m sure it will be comfortable for multi-hour adventures. Finally, as you mentioned, the paint is really spectacular in the sun. It’s a beautiful bike. I do like all the new ultegra shifting, brakes, and the nice fat tires.
I went out with the local shop ride tonight. Normally, I don’t attempt that ride until much later in the season when I have 500 or so miles in my legs and am in much better shape. Tonight, the weather was perfect, and, to be honest, I wanted to show off the new ride. I hung in with the front bunch for longer than normal and months earlier in the season than normal. The bike seems to have excused me from the first 500 miles of training for the season.
I do have one question. I thought I asked you to put one of those electric motors into the seat tube. I was looking for it on the ride home after I got dropped and was dragging up a few hills. I can’t find the button to activate it. Where is it?

Yeah. If anybody wants a Ti bike get one from Tom. I am really really happy with mine. It's been years now and it's my main ride in the US and does everything so extremely well. A timeless bike too, external HS, threaded BB, external cable, nothing ever goes wrong. So big kudos to TK.

Tom, looks like Boyd is your go-to for wheels now that AC is no more?
"As an homage to the EPOdays of yore- I'd find the world's last remaining pair of 40cm ergonomic drop bars.....i think everyone who ever liked those handlebars in that shape and in that width is either dead of a drug overdose, works in the Schaerbeek mattress factory now and weighs 300 pounds or is Dr. Davey Bruylandts...who for all I know is doing both of those things." - Jerk

And here's another, this time steel. Because the customer is supplying her own wheels, and she still has them, I had to use my wheels to prop up the bike.

Working on this frame was both an honor and a huge undertaking. Beyond a failed lower head lug, head tube and down tube, the top tube was buckled, rust was pervasive and the rear dropouts were really in bad shape. It is now as close to perfect as it can be.
