Probably more interior room than anything short of a Suburban.

    Joe,
My line coach in high school had that same Jeep Honcho. Crashed it and then rebuilt it instead of getting a new truck. He was the scariest, biggest, nicest guy ever. Sorry to ramble, brought back some good memories! Mike Fultz, still around. Stud at UNL and at one time was one of the highest paid linemen in the NFL.

Anyway, buy the Honcho immediately and put these personalized plates on it, "MIKE".

allegedly coming in 2019. if it's offered in a stripper version with 4WD, a manual transmission and a naturally aspirated V6 i'm probably in. My old Jeep died this year and am in need of something to replace it. this could be the ticket.

I am not sure I read that the way you meant it.

Judging by most of the Jeeps I see these days, I'm pretty sure he meant exactly what you read. Angry, as much as I loved my Wranglers that I drove for a decade, I think my Toyota FJ is a better vehicle. Worth a consideration if 1) you don't need to go topless and 2) you can find one.

Too bad about the styling, this thing re-writes the front-wheel drive rule book. Dayumn.

I don't know about that, but over our evaluation loop here it feels every bit as fast, if not faster than the AWD stuff if competes against. Actually - yeah, it feels faster (though I have not driven it back to back with our Focus RS yet). The thing also rides way better than it should for something in that class that pulls 1.02g with 245/30R20 tires and its remarkably free of road noise on the highway.

    Best in class seats (imho).

Styled for 17-year olds though. And can we please get radio volume and tuning knobs back?

Honda almost got the new Civic hatchback right. It's an attractive shape, but too busy:

And then they invited the 12 year old boys into the studio for the Type R:

The 2018 Accord will be a new model with a ~250 HP turbo 4-cylinder and a manual transmission available. Depending upon what options are available with this power train combination it could get me to go back on my plan to be done with manual transmissions as I start to eye a new car in my future.

On paper, it looks like a nice deal.

And yes, the Civic and especially the Type R, is WAY overstyled.

So...if I want a car that drives like that but won't be ridiculous as a semi-adult in my late 30s, what would you recommend?

i think the focus rs looks MUCH better...prob with the type r is that most of the styling flourishes are not functional! it's like those kids who like to put side vents on fenders...that hood scoop does nada!

The grown up option is the Golf R/GTI. I currently have a e91 325 wagon and wish for a bit more go. I looked at the Focus ST and a last gen WRX before the BMW and the seats were deal breakers in both. I will be interested to see if subaru comes out with a new WRX hatch next year.

I wish someone would make an electric hot hatch with 200 miles of range, that would be perfect for my needs, driving wants and environmental conscience. The model 3 sounds like it will go plenty fast but it is pricey, a sedan and not really available. The bolt is a hatch but I would prefer something sportier. The i3 with the extenders isn't super fast but is supposed to drive well and will get a test drive next go around with the used pricing.

You should try the Bolt. 0-60 in 6.5 seconds.

I'm already seeing these pop up around my 'hood. I think this car could be a game-changer.

I planned on getting one right before the scandal broke. Now I don't know if I could.

It comes with a steady flood of torque.

    Sailor should get a Bolt.
You should get a GTI or Type R.

Volkswagen certainly took a marketplace bruising, yet unsure I would go so far as to call it a scandal, per se.
Everyone has their comfort level for corporate responsibility, yet the VW/Audi brand is a broad catalog to deny yourself.

I'm firmly in the camp that sees the use of deliberate cheating mechanisms to pass emissions tests and mislead consumers and governments as a scandal. I don't expect companies to be good global citizens, though it is nice when they are, but I also don't want them to lie to me about the product they sell. That said, I agree. Overlooking Audi/VW great reduces the options available to me.
