Bike 0001 now is alive...
Well, the front half is anyway.

Okay, a bit rough before clean up, I know.
This is number one. So cut me some slack. LOL
IT IS STRAIGHT AS F&CK !
Front to back/ up and down...no less than 1mm...
(Better than I expected.)

I've said this before...If your sloppy with a torch...you'd better be handy with a file.

I knocked the black off after soaking the flux out (3M pad),
and cut off the pin heads.

Much more to come.

By the last lug...I was feeling the flow. I don't braze everyday...or even close to that. LOL

Enjoy this and the next month of me filing my ass off.

Try using 3 blades on the hack saw. I've got 3 TIG tacked together that work great.

WOW- smart move Clockwork. I never would have thought to do that.
Obviously I used one blade, then opened it up with the thinnest micro-file that I had.
Not really time effective on my part. Live and learn.

Just curious...do you tig them together flat, or leave the center blade lower for easier starting of the cut???

Luke, one trick you might want to remember for #2 is to leave a little seat tube peeking out beyond the seat lug until after the seat stays are attached (just like you did in your 3rd picture). When those stays are brazed on, it is likely some of the silver between the lug and seat tube will bleed out leaving a little gap. Having a little ledge left will help you braze some more silver into that hole. Actually without that lip, silver will want to go outside the lug and inside the tube but not into the gap. When all brazing is finished you can tidy up the edge to your liking.

Yeah, I was going to say that, too...though I have one small fraction of Doug's experience. You WILL bring some of that silver that's in the seat lug back up to temp when you braze your seat stays, and some of it will move/need to be replaced. In fact, I don't do any real finish work beyond "fixing stuff" to the cluster or the BB until I'm done brazing, and for me, the seat lug slotting is pretty much the last thing that I do before sending the frame off to paint.

I held the section I was tacking in a vise and they are all flat. I make starter groove with a file first.
