these trucks are just in demand i guess.

i'll probably never actually own one.
FJs were the same. I bought mine new for just about the same price as low mileage pre owned once you factor in the dealer incentives, negotiating, etc. The used pricing just didn't make sense.

Hold on to your wallets. Toyota is taking a beating for the next couple quarters at the least. This might be the time to talk turkey for a new car.

Most of the time if rebates are right I can sell a new Silverado 1500 for the same price or less than a used that's a couple years older and has 30-40K miles, depends on the Cab and trim level for the most part.

This is true. We did really well in nabbing our Sienna, and depending how/when the VW TDI saga finally plays out, a 4Runner or Highlander may be in the cards if the buyback is compelling enough.

Only those ignorant to jdm culture would call a Cressida an old man's car.

I was on CL last night.

I could buy a 2004 Tacoma with 150K miles, or I could buy a 2002 LC/LX470 with the same or less miles, a trailer, and have a few grand left over...

Those where extended cab 4x4 V6s, by the way.

The Tacoma I'd want is 2wd, regular cab, with a cap. Those are more reasonable.

I honestly haven't taken any photos of under the hood, surprisingly since that's the main appeal of this particular car for me.

In case you want to know, stock 1jz VVTI with front mount intercooler and a pre-turbo "cold air" style intake and full turbo back exhaust with mufflers and a cat. 300hp/280wtq factory plus the mods and it just passed drive-clean with the measured concentrations of emission 1/2 the allowed maximum for this car.

It was an intentionally ignorant/sarcastic statement, much like would come out at a car meet.

Zeroing in on a Tundra right now. The Silverado "Beast" is up for grabs if anyone wants it before I sell to CarMax.

Make it a wagon with a stick and it would be damn near perfect.
