One of my college-aged female interns just commented on how much she loves my Bean Ranger Mocs, and asked for a link so she could buy a pair. There is hope for the future.

"As an homage to the EPOdays of yore- I'd find the world's last remaining pair of 40cm ergonomic drop bars.....i think everyone who ever liked those handlebars in that shape and in that width is either dead of a drug overdose, works in the Schaerbeek mattress factory now and weighs 300 pounds or is Dr. Davey Bruylandts...who for all I know is doing both of those things." - Jerk
I picked up a pair of AE Randolphs six or eight weeks ago that have turned out to be very versatile. I used to have a similar pair of full straps from Alden, but they went missing in a suitcase a few years ago.
A little chunky if you're still doing the super-skinny pants thing, but they work well with straightish leg pants.
Been impressed with Bontoni lately.

My high school wardrobe is returning from the dead!
I was considering a pair of these. Rancourt & Co. I like the red soles with that shade of leather. I'm missing a good pair of loafer/slip-on/venetians for summer.

I’m going to post a picture later this evening of a pair of Hanover wingtips in genuine Cordovan (horse’s arse muscle) leather that have lasted 35+ years with a re-sole and re-heel here and there. Heavy as hell, indestructible and not for the faint of heart.

hey, how lucky can one man get.
Regarding summer loafers I have tried these Bontoni Capitano norwegian welt last week. Seriously awesome. Will most likely buy.

As I reach the mid-century mark, I am trying to dress more like an adult especially after coming off 18 months of grad school which consisted of mostly of wearing jeans, fleece, and trail running shoes (I was going for comfort and not style). Prior to grad school, I had a good collection of dress style shoes but recently found out 2 pairs of Johnston & Murphy shoes cannot be resoled.
Oldest to newest:
- Brooks Brothers (by Alden) Cap Toe Blucher - Black Calfskin
- Brooks Brothers (by Alden) Cap Toe Blucher - Walnut Brown Calfskin
- Brooks Brothers (by Alden) Penny Loafer - Black Calfskin
- Brooks Brothers (by Alden) Penny Loafer - Brown Calfskin
- Johnston and Murphy Medford Moc Toe - 1 Black and 1 Brown pair (only brown shown below)
*** These are both done. Leather/Rubber soles are worn through and cannot be replaced (cemented construction).
**** These were my go to shoes for work because they are business causal and could be worn with both wool trousers and chinos.
- Allen Edmonds Wilbert - Brown (more of a reddish brown)
*** These are mostly for weekends when I am wearing jeans (or chinos).
- Allen Edmonds Leeds - Brown Suede (special ordered this past weekend at Allen Edmonds trunk show)
*** They state 8-12 weeks before I get them. These will be good for both business casual work and jeans on the weekend.
I am trying to find a pair each of black and brown shoes (to replace my Johnston & Murphy Moc Toes) that would be good for a business casual work environment. I was thinking of getting the Allen Edmonds Leeds in both black and brown but worry that would be boring since I just special ordered a pair in suede. Another option is to use my Brooks Brothers penny loafers and not save them for special occasions. I know there are some shoe aficionados here and would like some advice.

IMO, the defacto business casual shoe is the AE strandmok with dainite sole. i'm wearing mine today.
Funny you should say that as I got these Brown Strandmok from AE with dainite sole (website closeout) but my wife does not like the "pebbled" leather.
And your version is much more "business casual" than these.

dainite soles are excellent, water repellent to a point. I have some brogue Church's from c 1986, before they sold out to an Italian fashion house, and some Lobb plain black, these have been re-soled at least 3 times. 2 pairs of Trickers suede ankle boots - very versatile, they go with casual wear and, if you are in a racy mood, you can wear them with a suit. Leaving aside sports kit, and assuming a bit of maintenance, i reckon these shoes and boots will see me out. Expensive to buy, but cheap in the long run.
