Sleeves for bi-lam
Hi All,
I wanted to ask about sleeves for purpose of bi-lam construction. This is an area that I'm not too familiar with so I'm looking for help. I've looked but I don't think I'm looking in the right place. I understand that you essentially get a larger ID for the OD being used, but are there specific sizes to use and wall thicknesses that are preferred?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Sleeves for bi-lam
Use the next size up in .058" tubing. For example, to sleeve an 1 1/4" tube, use 1 3/8" .058 and that leaves enough clearance for braze filler in between your tubes.
There are a number of metal suppliers online that sell straight gauge 4130 in small quantities.

Aircraft Spruce has a very good selection. If you have access to a lathe, you might want to turn down the wall thickness. I've used a machinable mandrel for this to secure the sleeve from the inside.
