Re: Concerts you are going to
Saw these guys on friday night. Part of the last hurrah at Cornielia Street Cafe. Completely stunning show.
Saw these guys at at Town Hall saturday night. So wonderful!
After the show they came back out and did another half hour singing xmas carols as a singalong with the audience. I can't wait for june when they will be a Tanglewood...

He opened for Dylan at Boston Garden back in 2012. He was great!

Re: Concerts you are going to
Well my concert finally came around.
I don't get out much after dark, but my wife and I were glad we did.
We saw and heard Lyle Lovett and John Hiatt this evening.
We loved the show.
I had a limited appreciation of both musicians music, but what I knew I liked.
It's fun going in a little blind, and it paid off well.
Great evening, wonderful experience.

It was probably 10 years or more ago when I saw them in a 1200 seat theater. One of the most physical shows I have ever seen. Both for the drummers and for me.

Try 'em in a 900 seat concert hall. Do have to say though that of all the Taiko shows I've seen, this one was much more about the intricacies and rhythms than brute force macho drumming. Having 4 women in the ensemble of 13 may have had something to do with that, but it was really interesting to see the different directions they took with their pieces. Several were almost jazz-like in the rhythms and syncopation. Really nice.

Re: Concerts you are going to
A few years ago in the summer park concert series was a band from Nigeria. Lagbaja, there had to be twenty people on stage, most drummers. Talking drums, standing drums, you name it. Twenty simple threads woven into something that rolled my eyes back into my head. Big drum ensembles can be totally killer.

feel silly posting the same venue, but had another chance to go to the Dew Drop historic jazz hall, this time to see Steve Pistorius and the Southern Syncopators play a tribute to Buck Johnson. pretty amazing, especially being in such a small space and live acoustics

Re: Concerts you are going to
Just got two tickets and a babysitter for Son Volt at the Haw River Ballroom. Stoke level quite very highly high. It's a killer venue, too.
