Oh, and my '08 Fit just turned 37,000 miles, luckily without any accidents.
Whoa, you drive even less than me! My '13 Fit just turned 30,000 miles

Just to be clear, I wasn't implying that a heavier but ancient car would be better; my comments were directed at modern cars with modern safety features. Say the beginning of the air bag era, engineered crush zones (exterior and interior), that sort of thing. A '59 anything had all sorts of sharp and unyielding objects that would kill you and lacked pretty much any occupant safety features. And it is amazing when people walk away from serious collisions.
It's worth noting that most automobile manufacturers resisted federally mandated safety requirements at every step of the way. Volvo and probably some other European makers are notable exceptions. So when industry cries about federally mandated safety requirements I call bullshit. Automobiles don't have the safety features we currently take for granted as a result of corporate magnanimity; they exist as a result of federal requirements. It's worth keeping that in mind when industry complains it's being over regulated.

Even a 90s Volvo doesn't do well, nor does a Land Rover vs a Renault mini-van
crash at 5:50

My 2010 has just over 35,000. This is clearly normal.

Re: Small car for the small bike racer
So I don't know why I had ruled it out, but the 2017/2018 Civic Hatchback looks like it would be a good option.
Anyone here driving one? Anything you don't love about it?
