Ronnie...my birds know me by first name and they've gone through 40# of feed and four blocks of suet in the past four weeks. Tough little buggers that always make us smile when they're around.

Our 3 rescue cats are completely indoor dwellers and always have been, since we adopted them 15 years ago. They sit at the window sills and stare at the snow, they don't know how good they have it. :)

Our two boys are the same; they were found on Galveston Island in the hours after Hurricane Ike ten years ago. They think they want to go outside in thunderstorms. I'm happy to be the bad guy.

Indoor cats (2). Birds going through seed at a great rate. Had close to 40 juncos beneath the feeders. We got about a foot of fine powdery snow today and it still is coming down. Tonite it gets cold again, as if it has been warm... Oh boy!

    Yeah absolutely. :)

When we got ours, I asked my wife - who went to the shelters - to pick out the ones that had been there the longest. One of them was scheduled to be euthenized an hour from when she got there, so just in time. I've always been glad we were there to change all their outcomes. :)

Always impressed how those puffy little 2-oz. balls of bird stay on the feeders when it's blowing like this. So delicate, but such hardy little creatures.

This thread reminds me I need to pick up some suet feeders today for the balcony in our apt. We moved cross country 4mos ago and left the feeders behind when we sold our place.

So I picked up a suet feeder and some suet today for our bird friends. Installed it on the balcony this afternoon. It's super cold here right now so I'm thinking we should have visitors to the feeder pretty quickly. :)

Just watched a little flock of mourning doves flying around trying places to bed down for the night. The stream ravine, a blue spruce, a big rhododendron. I can imagine what I'd need to sleep outside at -15F. I can barely imagine carrying it all, and I'd certainly not be able to fly around with it.

Even if I could check a bag.

An update: the birds have been apparently hitting our new suet feeder hard. Coming in from work today I noticed lot's of the suet cake was gone with nibble marks everywhere.

The birds were absent the other morning. When I went to investigate, I found a Cooper's Hawk sitting in the crabapple. By evening he still had not caught a pigeon- they flock to my barn. I don't mind feeding him by proxy.

Five turkeys sat on the neighbor's fence and watched me shovel our cars out on Sunday. They were there all afternoon.

It was 14. They looked fine.
