There's been a lot of talk here about staying out of the woods in hunting season. I think it's important to be out there, to be visible, and to keep an eye out for irresponsible folks like these. Riding at dusk in hunting season makes me very nervous, no more for me as now I go after dark.
Wings are from a turkey. Is it turkey season? You are supposed to take your guts with you. Not required by law I don't think, but it is at least polite practice. I guess one reason you might not is if you weren't supposed to be hunting turkey at that time, or perhaps not with a gun but a bow, or not in that area. Or they were just lazy.

Sad to say, but I think we are in for a very long flushing out of these stories. The story's time has come.

I have no issue with the flushing. As you say, time has come. But I am starting to understand Diogenes.

I find it interesting that Trump weighed in. I'd think given the Access Hollywood material and all the women who came forward with stories of his transgressions he'd keep quiet... Alas it isn't post partisan at all, just today's stick to hit the other side...

I just heard an interview with the two women who broke the story on that fat toad from Miramax, but when asked about Trump, they responded affirmatively that they thought there was still a story there but there was some space between the lines in their responses that lead me to believe that the story doesn't have the full support of the editors at NYTimes, which is interesting.

But if you think Trump will ever shut up, you haven't been paying attention.

My gump is now that I woke up with a stiff neck. Gdmnt.

My other grump is that I found the wording 'would of' instead of 'would have' in a book I'm reading. I realize it's an honest mistake but if 'would of/could of/should of' finds its way into legitimate English I think that may be the last straw for me and I'll move into the woods and live in solitude. Hope my wife and dog agree with my views on this.

It would almost be refreshing for me to find such an error in my students' writing. I swear, if I were to provide an example you would think it was the writing of a tenth grader.

When I was teaching ENG 101-102 in AZ, I would have been really happy with 10th grade writing. My favorite was an essay by a student about her trip to the French River Area.

Aw, everybody in my building just got an email with, in 40 point type, 'Hugh Thanks to Everybody That Participated in the Raffle'. My coworker wondered if that was like a Frank Apology so I told him to send them an Ernest Reply.

The all-time classic was the building email, and I so wish I had saved it because I swear I am not making this up, that invited everybody to do a little flower maintenance in 'the perineal garden, out by the back door'.

We used to call it WESL, pronounced "weasel" as in "Weasels ripped my flesh." Like ESL or English as Second Language, but this was Written English as Second Language. It was a joke to keep us sane, but then we realized it is an actual area of study.

I swear to Dog that if kids had their thumbs broken they'd be reduced to grunts and 'like'. A pair of highly annoying twenty-somethings on the train were droning on far too long and much too loudly about the quality of some stupid TV show and how its director was 'important'. Every 5th word was 'like', diluted with the ubiquitous 'you know'.

    They breed, you know.

I had a project manager fill out an accident report once where he noted that "the injured field personnel was struck in the face by a scaffold plank, the resulting effect being a fractured nasal bone". That's now an inside office joke...my nasal bone is itchy...I have to blow my nasal bone, etc.

Ow. That hurts. Was it traveling "at a high rate of speed" when it impacted? <shudder>

Off-subject, but we need something to mitigate the bigly failurisms: Red Boat fish sauce and Aroy-D coconut milk in bags or aseptic packs (NOT cans) makes Thai curries turn out far better than with what we gringos normally use. It has improved my results, if not my cooking.

Guys - from a medical perspective, that is a correct usage of 'nasal bone' FWIW.

Did it happen suddenly, without warning?

Those of you in public safety - fill me in - is saying this some sort of automatic reaction when a microphone is placed in front of you? Is there a test where, if this isn't said in this manner, you don't get into the academy?
