Early teal season is upon us. This girl is ready to go for her first real hunt, cannot wait to see her in action. On top of that it's football season! Have a great weekend.

Hurricane Harvey spared me and my loved ones. There's plenty of survivors guilt to go around.
Chad, watching working dogs at work is a real treat!
I'm
In Western Ireland for a week and a guy just dropped off a couple completely serviceable carbon road bikes for the next seven days.

It's Saturday morning, but I'm the only one up at my house, so it's kinda like Friday still. Apparently I sold my house yesterday. Don't have the documents to sign yet, but agreement was reached. Buyer's bank is all set to close on 9/19, which just happens to be my birthday. So... Happy birthday -- GET OUT!
But the best part is that we found a rental house not far away, and even going month-to-month, it's $300 less than my current mortgage payment. So that'll help, and takes some stress off.

Sitting in Lakeland, where I work, listening to the Clash "Should I stay or should I go". Not much clearer at the house in Tampa. On a good note, I just sent an email to Hampco Towers to start the process for a steel fork. Thanks guys(you know who you are).
All of you south of me be safe.

So last week I posted about a potential rental, so that we won't be homeless come 9/19. Turns out that place wasn't as advertised. Then we looked at a bunch of houses on Saturday... Ranged from boring to scary. Then on Sunday my wife brought up the geodesic dome house we'd looked at the week before. We talked about it. Went to look at it again, this time with daughter-the-elder. Daughter-the-elder LOVED the loft bedroom, which alleviated one of my wife's hang-ups with the house. With some more discussion, and thoughts on changes we'd make to the house, we went ahead and put in an offer, which was just accepted yesterday. We'll have the inspection on Monday. If everything goes smoothly, it'll close on or before 11/6... Yeah, that leaves a month and a half of no house.
But a co-worker has a house that he is getting ready to rent. It's his mother's place, and having us there on a short-term lease allows them to also do the rest of the work on the house. Taking a look at that one today, but all indications are that it will work.
Heavy sigh of relief. Again. Now just hoping everything goes well.

Annual class camping trip for my older son's class this weekend. Woo hoo!
Our middle kid, oldest son, just received notice of his first interview for Optometry school. He is pumped to say the least and in his words,..."one in, four to go". He's been busting his hump for the past three years so we are super excited for him and it will be very cool to see where his next journey takes him. Keep your collective fingers crossed.

I am not allowed to work on my own bikes, so I will need to find a good mechanic. The bike rack will be a double decker, which will hold six bikes.
For retirement, I will be restricted to a wine storage unit.....
FEMA has classified the lot in a flood plain so we have to build at least 4 feet off of the ground. We will build 8.5 feet off of the ground, so that we have parking and storage underneath the house. To plan for aging issues the square on the front porch will be an elevator.

Closing on our house on Tuesday -- I'm signing all the paperwork this afternoon. We have a place to go, a small rental that will be an interim location until our dome house purchase is finalized. Had the inspection on Monday, and though there were a couple items that needed to be addressed, all seems to be going smoothly. So far.
