Default Trying to find an "unreleased" album.

You guys are able to help with some of the best + strangest requests. So maybe you can help with this too?

Thorns of Life was Blake Schwartzenbach's band after Jets to Brazil and before Forgetters.
They recorded an album with J. Robbins (Jawbox) and were apparently going to release it on DeSoto.
It was going to be called Legislators and Prophets (2009). Then they didn't.

I've been looking for this album on/off for quite a while to no avail. I know it's out there somewhere. Maybe one of you has a source?

    Thanks!

Supposedly this is the track listing:
    1. The Black Arts
    2. Kryptonite
    3. My First Time
    4. Ribbon Head
    5. Available
    6. Anti-Song for Barthelme
    7. Not a Track Bike
    8. Mont Blanc
    9. I Hate New York
    10. Oh Deathly Death
    11. Gemini
    12. Vivid Green
    13. Building Al Qaeda in Washington
    14. Tuning Out

I've only seen that really lousy youtube clip.

Did they ever actually finish or even start recording the album before they broke up? Would be cool to actually hear a solid recording.

    AFAIK it was completed.
DeSoto did a press release and then tried to undo a press release.
This was like 8 years ago so my memory is fuzzy.

My friend saw them in SF. She said they were awesome live. The stuff that Forgetters put out isn't that great IMO but Blake did carry some of the songs over.

The only recording I've ever seen making the rounds is a gilman sound board recording which is so so.

I saw them in a basement in Santa Rosa and they were pretty awesome. I heard that they broke up that night on the drive back to the city. Kind of amazing that two big personalities like Blake and Aaron were ever in a band together to begin with. For those not familiar the Aaron here is Aaron Cometbus who is most well known for his zine Cometbus as well being in Crimpshrine and Pinhead Gunpowder.

This is all I could find -- audio clips from various live performances. Varying sound quality.

That's a cool collection of their stuff -- all in 1 place.

PS I'm stoked that Jawbreaker is back together even though it will probably be short lived and reunions aren't the best.

Fixed that for you. Saw thorns of life in bk and they were great; shellshag (still a band, still touring and releasing music) also played that night and ripped.

As far as your album search, can't help you. All i know is that it was recorded.
