Another session with Chris Higgins.
Maybe some other stuff...
I have to say, that as an old F who generally finds tats rather repulsive, that this is art. Other posts in this thread are as well, this is just what hits me. I have no ink myself, but now I get the attraction.
Thanks for starting the conversation, and keep it going.
Booked a little time with Curly. In 2018.
Framebuilders aren't the only ones with lead time.
For those interested- a little souvenir from Eastborne (and a spot of touch up while I was there).
It was a pretty solid day. It's hard to emphasize just how fast Chris is. Including drawing, lunch and the touch ups we're looking at about 6.5hrs. Similar time on the first side (a bit more drawing and a bit less tattooing).
Pretty sure I'm over 165 hrs at this point. At what stage does someone become "heavily" tattooed? Not that it matters.
That is fast, which definitely makes a difference. Get in, get out.
Pretty funny that you ask. My wife and I talk about that from time to time. I don't really consider myself that heavily tattooed, but I'm at around 120 hours. I guess compared with most people I'm heavily tattooed, but compared with my tattooer friends, I'm just getting started. Anyway, and not that it matters as you said, but I'd consider you heavily tattooed.
I'm trying to hold off on new stuff until next year after adding a bunch last year, but the itch for more is getting stronger.
The pits had to be brutal. Mine doesn't go in that far but I remember that hurting and scabbing bad.
Man, I can't imagine quantifying my tattoos by time in the chair-- and I'm married to a tattooer, and really getting there in terms of coverage. I guess it beats the inane question "How many do you have now?", particularly for those of you with giant single pieces. One of these days I'll post up some better photos of my legs.
That's a BIG session, Eric. Right on.
Moved to Berlin, first thing done was get a half sleeve from Caro and Cy:

I keep telling my mum that I am working on having a lower number of tattoos. Cold comfort. I'd say it's arguably down to one now.
Nice one, Rob. Some of the mag drag stuff they do is a bit whispy for my personal tastes, but I like the density of your half sleeve. I'd love to see how that ages over the next few years to see what settles and what definition stays distinct. I take the hammer approach- neat to see other stuff.
Every time I see my dad he asks if that tattoo is new. I think he blocks them out of his memory and is then regularly surprised to see them. I just keep telling him that he should always assume I've gotten a new tattoo and then he'll be pleasantly surprised when I haven't. I'll eventually be down to one as well, though I still have a long way to go.

I'm fairly close to being 40 years old. It's always a funny conversation for me.
Does anyone have road rash damaged tattoos? What does that look like? How deep in the skin is the ink?
Tattoo pigment sits in the dermal layer, so roughly 1-3mm deep. You can absolutely damage tattoos by damaging the skin in a crash. I've done some spot tattoo editing.
