    Default TV series.

I am a svcker for those things and i love the marathon watching of stories that never end.
Except for Mad Men which is so brilliant at character building my favourites so far come from the creepy , violent end of things. And european too; the danes are good at portrying horror and sick, ultraviolent sadistic people.
The Bridge- set on the Mexico- Texas border.
The Killing- I saw the american redo and liked it a lot.
The Fall. Set in Belfast w/ a chase for woman strangler. Gillian Anderson(?) is soooo good to watch.
Homeland_ saw the american redo. I want to watch the israeli original
Sons of Anarchy- Bizarre and cinematically primitive, a mix of soap opera and shakespeare but highly addictive.

Fringe is pretty fun, more sci-fi. Drags a little in the late seasons though.

I started The Walking Dead a few weeks ago - pretty good, if a tiny bit predictable. Some very good dramatic moments. Quite gory. The whole thing is on Netflix.

Also like Les Revenants, but you have to have patience for subtitles.

"Marcella" is good. NOt perfection... far from there but original in some aspects and done by people who know and respect storytelling.

    Great stuff.

We nearly cried when the last episode of Dexter finished.

Just started Six Feet Under. Surprisingly good character development and the opening is a weird treat.

I think Silicon Valley should be required viewing for everyone at my company. I love that show and I hate how close to home it hits.

As the OP declared his taste for violent and creepy TV series, I didn't think of comedies. Silicon Valley is great and this is one of my favorite moments

Just started "Shameless" on Netflix. Not sure it's a keeper. Some of the script writing is unexpected. Anybody from Chicago will hate it.

"Broadchurch" series, both seasons. Seemingly homey little detective series at the beginning gets tougher and tougher as it goes along. And really tough - almost unimaginable to figure how a few of the main characters are going to weather the plot twists successfully. And they sort of don't which is the point. English accents strong enough to sometimes require subtitles.

"Spiral" series. I could only find one season on Netflix but there are others on Hulu. I need to watch them. Cop and lawyers. Lots of gray choices. Good acting, some stereotypes, but lots of human-ness about it. French with subtitles.

"The Bureau" series. On iTunes. First season, hope there are more. French foreign intelligence, recalled spy, missing spy, Algerians, Syrians, tense. I am still watching this so I don't know how they are going to wrap this one up or if they will. Beautiful actress plays a very smart main character. Good acting. French with subtitles.

"Wallander" series. This is the original Swedish version in Swedish with subtitles. Avoid the Kenneth Branagh version. Police drama. Very good writing with multilayered exploration of various social issues. My Swedish friends know the town where the show takes place and wonder how they have any people left with all the murders. But it is a good series, especially if you like writing and carefully crafted interweaving plot lines.

    I find most American TV to be almost unwatchable, there are some great series listed already in this thread;

    Broadchurch
    Wallander
    Happy Valley
    Luther
    Rake
The Falls ( the district where my Dad grew up )

    Other good ones,

    The Tunnel
    Crossing Lines
    Cuckoo
    Foyle
    Marseille
    Very Secret Service
    Spooks
    Night Manager
    Inspector Morse
    Line of Duty
    Dreamland
    Jack Taylor

Some really good stuff out there.

I've just finished Narcos. Well done with solid characters, IMHO.

I just finished season 1 of Limitless which was better than I expected it to be. There are some funny moments and the actor is pretty good. Definitely not as good as the movie, but I will watch season 2 when it comes out.
