Yes, You Can Use A Drill Press
So I've read this thread with interest. Just over a year ago I bought from Rich Powers his abrasive belt miter tool that James Morikawa made. I set it up once on my drill press and tested it out. I have to admit that I wasn't blown away and decided I needed to up it's game and learn it better. Since I had a milling machine sitting that I never incorporated into mitering and my next couple of frames were going to be traditional round, not very thin walled and not hardened steel I figures I'd turn my energy to the mill and a hole saw set up first.
Which I did and am pretty happy with my results. But then this thread comes along and my attention returns to the abrasive miter tool. So all I can show is the link to James' website shots and a little text. Maybe in time I'll get the tool up and running to my liking. Andy.

With titanium - how are they cleaning the mitres after the abrasive belt? Won't the belt leave small containments in the mitre which will effect the weld?

This I covered in a post a while ago
In our industry we use acid to remove any impurities, , this is why I doubt there are any problems we regular radiograph each weld be it aerospace motorsport or medical.
I'm sure things in critical industry such as ours way surpass a bicycle yet it is common practice, there was much development and analysis put into how we make tubular structures and this method was valid
