This is what I'm after. So there's three of us... kickstarter????

Will take AWD if necessary. I found a RWD X1 with the small motor but more miles than I was comfortable with. No manual trans either (but holding out against hope on the manual v auto. That ship has sailed for most cars.

I read the thread on the Volvo across the hall. Seemed to be a lot of pros vs cons going on there. I still have nightmares from my Dad's 144 wagon.

TSX was considered a while ago. We got an Element instead. I don't think Honda/Acura does a wagon any more. Or the CrossTour.

I even thought about the Dodge Hemi wagon a few years back.

I had a Subaru WRX wagon about 13 years ago. Not the "5-door" hatchback-ish version, but a proper wagon. Manual, turbo, AWD, and room for bikes AND dogs. That was probably my favorite car ever. I really want a modern version of that car.

I know that people are on an anti-VW kick, but I am enjoying my 2016 Autobahn GTI manual with the performance package.

However, still waiting for VW to straighten out the TDI mess.

I had a 2013 Jetta TDI (mt) wagon for 1.5 years. It was ok, but the seats did not agree with my back, and it was not sporty. On the whole it was a pretty big downgrade from the 2000 Passat v6 mt I had before in everything but gas milage and maintenance costs. I think this car is a competitor to a prius V or a matrix more than a nice german wagon. I also believe the 2015+ are a bit nicer but I have not confirmed.
When I went to replace it I looked at: Subaru Outback (boring) WRX (bad seats for me, expensive), Mazda 3 (not enough headroom) Focus ST (bad seats again), Volvo V50 (very nice, footwell is a bit narrow, not exciting), 535xi wagon (big fast and not very engaging). I did not look at any VW/Audi products after my TDI and high upkeep on my passat. I then bought a 2006 325xi wagon with a sport package and 6 speed with 44k miles for 14.5k.
The BMW burns more gas and will cost more at the shop but is a worlds nicer car. The seats are great, the handling is great, it is quiet and much quicker than the TDI. It is also better in the snow than my wife's forester (both with snow tires). The only downsides are potential cost, but the purchase price was so much lower than the subarus that I figure this is a wash and it is a bit on the small size. If you can find one I would recommend it.

What you want is this- 2015 Subaru Levorg First Drive - Motor Trend

Unfortunately it's Japanese market only. Bastards.

'splain me what the Autobahn designation means. Please. I've read around but have trouble weeding through it all.

Seems like the wrx wagons did fairly well when they were here. The hatches too for that matter... I dunno why they only brought us a sedan with the new body style.

I bought a 2012 N/A impreza hatch/wagon thing and I really dont like it. Granted, its a basic car to get me to and from the office but man... its not very comfortable and its got some gremlins that I'm not very happy about; vanishing oil, traction control problems, bad emissions sensors. It's leaving a bad taste in my mouth about Subaru in general. I never thought I'd say that after having and loving a WRX back in the early 2000's.

I'd love to find a smokin deal on a 3 series wagon, TSX wagon, or maybe even a TDI. I'm not super concerned with the TDI fix. It'll happen one way or another and there will be aftermarket options to correct the fix if it really sucks.

Infinity Q30 maybe. Benz chassis and drivetrain.

Audi has a hybrid big hatch coming and my company finally installed charging stations at our site.

Closest CPO Bimmer 328 is 700 miles away. Should have bought one when they were not rare dang it.
