Saw it tonight.
I loved it. It was fun, entertaining and so true in feel to the original 3.
I'll see it again.

Finally saw it. Loved it. Favorite shot: Rey scavenging an old space ship, only to pan out for us to see it's an old, crashed Star Destroyer. To her it's just some old relic to scavenge, to us, it's a ghostly embodiment of the the Empire we all knew. The Apocalypse Now shot with the Tie Fighters coming in to attack with the sun in the back ground...pretty cool shot, but I wished it lasted a few more seconds. I wasn't thrilled when Kylo Ren so quickly took off his mask, but it made sense soon after when we see how he is still struggling to embrace the evil of his grandfather.
I just liked all the shots with hot, loud, pulsating lightsabers really close to people's throats in the thick of Jedi swordfighting.
All the flaws of a Lucas/Disney/Abrams love child. I had a ton of fun anyway. So did my kids.
Not sure it was better than the though. Whoever edited that did a hell of a job.

Rey's nature as a scavenger/tinkerer damn near makes her the most likable character in franchise history, and BB-8 is the best new BB standard to come about in my lifetime...(sorry, I just had to)
^^ yes, the flaming thumbs up is the new thing in my household.

Suggestion for Disney, Episode VIII directed by Quentin Tarantino.
Imagine the Star Wars given the Kill Bill treatment,
QT is the movie obsessive to end all movie obsessives.
Oh yeah, and hire a writer, enough with the recycled Hugo Gernsback.
So which Vader does Kylo aspire to be? The evil one or the one who began destroying the Empire by killing Palpatine?
Saw it a second time last night. My daughter caught a continuity error that I missed.
As to Kylo Ren's aspirations and his conflict (which really is only alluded-to in this film, and is the main plot of at least one of the official fictions post Ep-6, and a sub-plot of several), I asked my daughter last night, "So, Kylo Ren appears to be praying in that scene, but who was he praying to?"

I'm surprised that they missed a good opportunity to bring Yoda back.
Ren, starting to feel the Force, running through the woods, meets Yoda and gets needed insight into the Force.
Would have been a good ploy for increasing attendance and for selling all sorts of Yoda toys.

Yoda only appears to other Jedi. For all of Rey's force ability, she's not a Jedi.

Anybody else watch The Mandalorian? I'm not totally sucked in yet, but it's at least something to tide us dorks through. For $60/year Disney+ seems like a decent deal.
