    --- "ya can make chicken soup from chicken shit.."

    tammy threw-out my collector wooden Scandinavian hot-rock sauna tub that gold's gym threw out years back; i thought it was cool/neat and belonged
    in our study to hold magazines..
    "enough of that junk.." says tammy while cleaning..
    threw out on drive for recyclable pick-up..
    neighborhood great-man-dane did a one-leg-lift & filled er' up..
    ladies neighborhood early morning walk/gossip group scarfed er' up.., wooden ladle too..
    think they have em' a ronnie collector treasure to scurry home with..

    hey, you can take a rat's-ass rider/bike and attach a wild-ass story/history --- make some real scoots-$ on a sale..

    guess those mean heart drugs make'n me on'ry..,

    If everything goes well, I'll be selling my condo in less than six weeks.

    And, oh. I bought a house yesterday.

    Nice! We close on our new one in a less than 3 weeks. No bites on our current house yet though...

    I've got a demo fatbike with 4.8 inch tires and hydro brakes to play with all weekend long.

    I'm going to eat lunch with my 5th grader, he's my only kid that will still be seen with me, have to take advantage of it while I still can.

    My sick wife was resigned to not being able to travel to her reunion. Very disappointed. She was feeling a little better so I set up a low stress way for me to take her. Perpetual smile on her face since I told her made it worth it. She's been so house bound that this little thing means so much to her.

    Let's get this started, eh?

    I didn't have to put my foot down, not even once, on my commute to work. New (~3mo) job means I can commute to work by bike. New job/city has been better than I could have ever hoped. One of the best things to happen to me in a looong time.

    My wife told me we were going to watch our granddaughter play soccer at noon tomorrow. I have figured out a pretty nice 42 mile route to get me there, eat hotdogs, hug the kid and ride home with the wife. Triple win!

    We made some good progress last night on converting our garage into a home gym/bike workshop. It's still a mess, but now the spare washing machine has been moved out, the nasty old laundry sink is gone and the walls and floors have been cleaned and prepped for paint. Once that's done it's time to build the storage cabinets, move my new rolling tool box/bench into position and start ordering the weight lifting equipment. It's gonna be sweet to have a place to lift and train at home. Despite the apparent mess in the photo, this is a ton of progress. That back wall was built up with disgusting old cabinets that were falling apart just a couple days ago. Now it's a wide open space. So despite my tirade of grumps yesterday, this makes me happy.

    Got it started with Buddy Guy Wednesday night at the Egg. Continues with Boz Scaggs tonight at the Egg, Marshall Crenshaw tomorrow night at the Van Dyck with friends and Sunday night Ry Cooder, Ricky Skaggs and Sharon White at the Egg.

    Egg membership was some of the best money I've spent, grabbing tickets at presale and ending up in the first or second row of the pit is the best... ten feet from the artists makes it a very different experience. The trick at the Egg is if you can't get front row get the outside of the second because there are no chairs in front of you so you can stretch out or get up and dance (like a spastic stick insect, in my case) and you are still pretty much in the middle of the stage.

    Strongin, I see your counter TP rolls and raise you a toilet in a tub.

    First crack at tiling - doing that fake wood porcelain. Grout going down this eve and installing new throne tomorrow morning. All stained trim & vanity eventually white. This project got me hungry to be productive on some other home improvements just as the cold is hitting. We'll see how long that lasts.

    And my daughter's vball team wrapped up their season. Lots of close sets they grunted out and held on to win. Pizza and awards last night. I told them when I get stressed during games, I stand up, and this year I got to sit nearly the entire time -- just being a fan. Great group of kids I'm blessed to have my daughter be associated with. Now onto my son's basketball season where I just get to sit and watch him do what his old man was best at -- and foul out.

    Two days post back surgery. Other than some piriformis spasms that are helped by a heating pad, I'm starting to wean myself off the narcotic pain killers. The surgeon went in to trim off a herniated portion of the L5-S1 disc that was pushing on my sciatic nerve but also found a bunch of bone fragments that he removed as well. He said I should have been in excruciating pain and I was at times, but for the most part I wanted to surgery to get my left leg back to normal before I wrecked my right leg and caused more back problems by compensating for a weak leg. Now I have to work on not getting too fat while I'm recovering. I'm banned from cycling until January.

    Here's to a speedy recovery!

    I'm leaving work early and not coming back until the 30th. It would be even better if I could stay away until January 30th. Of 2017.

    Putting aside Comcast, yesterday:

    • The GC finished up;
    • The alarm system got installed;
    • We got a new bed, couch, bookcase and ottoman;
    • I cleaned most of the 3rd floor, 2nd floor and basement;
    • There's a bunch of our old stuff in our new house.

    Tomorrow we empty the storage unit and move enough of our bedroom, bathroom and kitchen stuff so that we can live here. If we get it all done fast enough we're going to end the day at Ikea buying the shelving for the bike shop. And then more of the same on Sunday.

    Oh, and this morning I was able to drop everything for a couple of hours and hang out with an out-of-town friend. That was sweet.
    GO!

    In the last 2 days, four different companies have requested samples of our product to evaluate. 2016 is shaping up to be a busy year...
    "As an homage to the EPOdays of yore- I'd find the world's last remaining pair of 40cm ergonomic drop bars.....i think everyone who ever liked those handlebars in that shape and in that width is either dead of a drug overdose, works in the Schaerbeek mattress factory now and weighs 300 pounds or is Dr. Davey Bruylandts...who for all I know is doing both of those things." - Jerk

    Nierman, I agree, the home improvement work is quite satisfying. Last Friday I tiled around the electric fireplace for our new living room space (the fireplace has been leveled since the picture was taken)

    Last night I got a first coat of paint on the wood. Today I repaired a gutter on the outside of the house. Simple pleasures and the satisfaction of not paying someone else to do these tasks.

    Since we are changing this to a home improvement thread. Big structural project on our house is almost done; the final coat of stucco started going on today. I handled a few side projects like rebuilding a rotten deck. Next up is painting, doing that myself as weather allows this winter. We ended up re-stuccoing the entire front of the house and it is going to look awesome with a fresh coat of paint on it.

    I have two more kids than I did ten days ago. Both are beautiful happy and healthy. Their mother is on the mend.
    Despite this, I managed to ride twice this week: one lazy ramble and one commute.
    We finally started to hang pictures in the house (moved in a month ago) so it's starting to really feel like home.

    It will be just the five of us for dinner next Thursday (the smallest thanksgiving I can remember by far) but I have a shitload to be thankful for.
