Life lessons from Anthony Bourdain

I just want to know how an omelette reveals character....

Few people on the planet have lived the kind of globetrotting and adventure-filled life that chef and TV personality Anthony Bourdain has. You can probably learn a thing or two from the man.

1.) “Skills can be taught. Character you either have or you don't have.”

2.) “If you’re twenty-two, physically fit, hungry to learn and be better, I urge you to travel – as far and as widely as possible. Sleep on floors if you have to. Find out how other people live and eat and cook. Learn from them – wherever you go.”

In re: #20....

I spent half a year with a Russian immigrant as a roommate in my college days at Boston University in the early 90's.... my god, the amount that (young) man could drink. Made any soused fraternity boy look like a 12 year old drinking his first beer. And I have no idea what he drank or where he got it from. Clear bottles of liquid fire with Cyrillic letters printed on plain labels. Tasted like hatred.

So true. I think that is how I landed my wife. I use to make her omeletes, omeletes with lots of care and mythology, on weekend mornings. I have a secret recipe and a secret method. That's not so secret but she lets me think it is.
