Well, the two cortisone shots in my shoulder aren't going to do it. I visited the doctor so that if I needed surgery I could get it done and recover before summer is here. He says let's try cortisone, I say I already did that, he says I'll give you two. I said whatever, I give. I'm scheduling another appointment, I've come to grips with the possibility of surgery, I just want to get it done already, this shit hurts.

So-called good eatin' pubs that only serve wheat/ipa/blonde/pilsner/hoppy stunt beer/seasonal experiments and the token guinness.

Brown. Amber. Porter. Stout. These are important words, people.

Wife is having surgery tomorrow. Should be routine, but she has significant anxiety issues and is afraid she will die on the table. Can't find a way to comfort her.

This truly puts a bur in my saddle:

Maryland Bishop Heather Cook Pleads Not Guilty in Fatal Hit-and-Run

    And this part in particular:

Maryland Bishop Eugene Taylor Sutton didn't believe the incident was a true "hit-and-run," saying in an email obtained by NBC News in December: "Bishop Cook did leave the scene initially, but returned after about 20 minutes to take responsibility for her actions."
To me, if her running delayed medical intervention that may have saved his life, then BY GOD it's a hit and run, and she should hang.

A custom built frame that I've waited close to a year for arrives at my LBS from the paint shop, and when unpacked there is a big chip on the chain stay and a chip on the DS dropout.
Packed straight back in the box and sent back to be redone.

My daughter’s back in the hospital, been 6 days now. She was doing great, but her Lupus kicked in again. Temperature swings from 105 to 94 from the treatments. I’m sure the doctors at Mass General will figure it all out, but man…I wish it was me in that bed instead of her.

Goddamn Mike Creed stole my heart with the podcast and the amazing season as DS last year and then went and broke it in half. Even if the doping rumors are false the consensus seems to be he put winning over people regardless. I wasn't there and it could all be internet bullshit but it hurts the heart.

I know that feeling. We are thinking of her, and you and your wife too.

after years of belligerently insisting that ive conquered my asthma...now that i live where pollen coats the air i cannot breath 5 breaths without needing to take a really deep one, one that is almost never satisfyingly deep, always a struggle. i need to move back to a coastline.
i actually cannot stay still long enough for an MRI because of it now..

Sean, my sister grew up with bad asthma on the east coast. Lived in western ma, Boston and New York City. After years of suffering, she moved to Taos NM, and now resides in Phoenix AZ. First time I paid her a visit years back, I couldn’t believe I was mountain climbing in the high desert with the same person who couldn’t walk across my living room without heaving.

I don’t know your situation, but the move west was the best thing for her.

And thanks to all wishing the best for my daughter. It helps.

when i was younger, it was activated by a lot, mostly goldenrod/ragweed pollen, incense, and exercise; have had 7 pneumonias, a little under 30 bronchitis', and most of that was before i was 10yo. all resulted in permanent damage (25 yo with the lungs of a 37 yo). since i began endurance sports like rowing and cycling i havent had nearly the issues i used to, but the move from boston to cincinnati has been problematic. still dont have a daily-use inhaler, but it's noticeable enough to be a pain and a disappointment (realizing im mortal you know). id love to move west where the only air is ocean-blown, but im still green as for as experience goes, and so it's tough to convince a company to interview me when i live 2500miles away.

also would like to add my sorrow at hearing your daughter is back in the hospital. best of luck.

I've spent 4 hours on the phone in a foursome between my doctor's office, insurance company and specialty pharmacy and still have no resolution. Who do I send the bill for my time to? They are all playing tug-a-war over money. I want some of it too. Who doesn't love hold music?

I'm effectively under house arrest in a depressing walled compound outside the international zone in Baghdad, the view outside my lodging window is a high stack of junked vehicles blasted by IEDs, so many souls lost. Eight more weeks until my first ride of the year.

I've got a lot of these people in the office. Liars,know-it-alls, exaggerators, etc. yammering on all day with their insipid, inane comments. Cliff2.pngObvious.png
