Monadnocky- India and Mexico were not listed in the top ten list that I refer on that graphic.

Dhoff- as soon as my time machine is complete I'll travel back in time to speak out about historical atrocities. I'll give the benefit of the doubt and assume your point isn't "well they did too, so it's ok". With that said, what is the point of bringing up these historical events ?

2014-15. What a great representation of the documented violent history of Christianity.

    No matter.

Want to talk about sexual slavery and the church?

Want to talk about "documented violent history" of the far left or their sexual 'nuances". Seems almost as relevant.

In a recent poll, 57% of republicans approved of amending the constitution and making Christianity our national religion. Isis doesn't scare me, we can take care of this problem. What scares me is when our religious nutters make policy in how we deal with their religious nutters. I do think the president has the proper approach. It's just not constructive to label the very same folks who are going to help us defeat extremism as extremists. It's Murica at its worst.

Honest curiosity. Had you lived back then would you have held the same position on these atrocities?

"Hey, it's not all the Christians."
    "Most Christians are peaceful "
"It's not the religion, there bunches of other reasons for the violence "
"Lighten up, haters. The Druids were doing bad shit too 2,000 years ago"

No, Glen, but they are listed as among the "most extreme" in the same metric category as the top 10 countries (0-2.5, whatever that measures).
You know right well that that's not what I meant- I specifically referred to the "red" countries in my post.

    OK. Really, I'm out.

No I definitely knew what you meant. I was just clarifying for someone who couldn't see the graphic well or just looked quickly. I wasn't going for a cheap shot, but I can see how it looked that way.

What the world needs is a formidable 3rd entity of evil to rise up so that Christians and Muslims can set aside differences and join arms in battle (like defeating the Mongols) - calm and understanding will reign briefly, then we can go back to hating each other again.

    It's a highly successful Hollywood action/western/comedy/drama formula.

The plot of Watchmen, basically. Spoilers if you've never read the comic. But then again, it would be spoilers on a near thirty year old story. So yeah. Ozymandias is behind everything.

While Putin does not necessarily preach the way ISIS and AQ talking heads do, the fact is he derives much of his legitimacy among the Russian electorate from unfettered support by the Russian Orthodox Church.

And here we see, one more opposition figure mysteriously assassinated: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/02/28/wo...=top-news&_r=0

    Oooh.... white people.

White people are better than brown people. Did I get it?
    No?
    How about personal income levels?
    How about education levels?
Relative development levels of the country?

Surely you're not proposing it's due to which fairy tale they believe in.

Sure. Islam is a problem. I'll say it.
That said, every person negatively affecting my life has a bible in their hand, either as a claimed believer, or as a way to motivate the claimed believers. As such, the Christians are a considerably bigger problem and I'm loathe to support them in what is very much an ongoing holy war against their rivals.

What most of these countries are lacking is several hundred years of progress. I'm not sure how to speed them along and make the transition happen faster than our own. I am confident, however, that each subsequent missile offensive and invasion is only serving to move them back in time.

I don't think you can fully blame Islam for what is going on in the ME right now. Destabilizing the status quo in Iraq has had led to a pretty predictable outcome. The Sunni minority in Iraq was doing a fairly good job of terrorizing everyone else in the country before the U.S. invaded, now they are back to doing it again as ISIS. The only difference is now they are using their fundamentalism as a marketing tool.

Your post makes such little sense, I'm going to assume you are drunk.

Your conclusion, that all these areas lack is several hundred years of progress to catch up with the western world???

The middle east is the cradle of humanity. Their cultures and societies pre date the western world by 1,000+ years.
