Not really for the hobbyist
Saw this on CL here in Seattle
Cast Iron Layout/inspection Plate
10-12000 lb layout table? I don't know the difference between a surface plate and a layout table so not sure how 'flat' it is but, jeez, that's a big chunk of cast iron! i'm assuming you could have it ground to be flat enough for frame building.
Anyway, it wouldn't fit in the trunk of my car so, if anyone is interested, I won't be hurt if you steal it from me...

This is better than an onion headline.

WOW!
if they wanted 8k less I would be on my way with the trailer in ten minutes.
I would happily stand at that table doing my thing for the rest of my life.

In school I was on the chassis team for our MiniBaja car (and two Formula SAEs as well). The running joke around the shop was "Measure with a micrometer, mark with chalk, cut with an axe."

Why do people feel the need to list all of their bikes in their signature?

laser interferometer. But I think most people have a hard time getting anything flatter than a few angstroms.

I'm curious how they think they can go from 60 nM to .6 nM. It's easier to get better roundness specs on smaller spheres, but I guess they can't use a 25mm sphere and scale the results.

Do you think they will meet me in a public place and accept my low-ball offer?
