    Default Buttermilk Pancakes

    Buttermilk Pancakes

    DRY
    A.P. flour 4 cups
    Salt 1.5 teaspoons
    Sugar 1/2 cups
    Baking Powder 1.5 tbl
    Baking Soda 1 teaspoon

    Wet
    Egg Yolks 4 each
    Melted Butter 3 tablespoons
    Buttermilk 2 1/2 cups
    Milk 2 cups
    Vanilla 1tbl 2 teaponns

    Method
    1. combine wet with dry mix until smooth
    2. place 3 oz of batter on buttered griddle cook until dimples appear turn and cook

    good stuff

    you should sift all your dry first left that out

    this is fantastic. i've recently figured out adding the touch of baking soda does worlds for the height and fluff of my pancakes. key also is don't overwork when combining.

    A similar tip used to be on the Bisquick box except it used baking powder and lemon juice. Here's the recipe.

    Adding the baking soda or powder dramatically changes the pancake experience-for the better!

    I've worn out this page from my 1981 BH&G cookbook...I add a splash of vanilla as well and sometimes fresh blueberries when I'm in the mood.
