Color me impressed Bruce. That's a high touch item, I know it works and you've got cats lined up to buy them. All good news.

Really like the carbon Blackburn FP-1, but not sure it's available anymore. Here's an aluminum one on my Hampsten - I painted the mid-section flat black. Note: it does not mount as high as they typically do on the headtube 'cuz I asked Hampco to drop the pump peg a few mm to better clear the S&S coupler. Not their mistake, just to be clear.

Silca Rules:
Spit on the seal - no kidding, it preserves the rubber.
Never let the handle extend to full reach - if you do the pump handle will explode, not kidding.
Gently rock the pump head onto the valve and when done smack it off with a sharp hit - just do it
Once in a blue moon - regrease the leather washer with some goose grease.

Anyone tried the Silca CO2 gear? I've been riding commando and fully expect that posting to this thread will ruin my good fortune, so best to be prepared.

I lost my Silca frame pump in the early '90s, replaced it with a Zefal that's still going strong at ~2 decades (how do they make money?), but alas does not fit my current frame of reference.

So I'm thinking CO2...

Haven't used the Silca gas but it sure looks nice. Expensive I think compared to others. I like CO2 but there is always the possibility of a double flat, or some other catastrophe that makes you blow through all of your cartridges. So I always carry a pump of some sort. My current favorite is one of the tiny mini pumps that can fit in a Jersey pocket. I'm hoping to someday reach the point where I go out with nothing; be one of those dudes with no seat bag, nothing in the jersey pocket except a phone to call a cab!.

I use the Silca head for my co2. Works great. But this is about full size frame pumps and it seems it's down to either a relic Silca, the Topeak, or the Zefal. What I'm afraid of is the effect of weirdly shaped tubes on the future of frame pumps.

All of my Silcas died at once. Still have a collection of Campagnolo heads for them. I really liked those pumps, but I'm afraid to waste my time chasing one down given the fate of my previous pumps. Not that they owed me anything, but any remaining stock is getting pretty old at this point

As long as we are obsessing....As great as the frame fit Silcas are/were, nothing really could be as awesome as the NON-FRAME-FIT Silca that predated it. A frame with a acouple of pegs attached to allow for fitment along the seatstay as well as along the top tube and/or seattube shows that somebody actually thought about it. i love the highly embossed handles that these pumps had.

Bad news. Since the camel poked his nose under the tent we are now including frame attached (small) pumps that are worth a good g-ddamn.
A client gave me a Lezyne Carbon Road Drive a while ago and frankly it got tossed in the bin of things I give away. Curious, I tried it on a 700X25 tire and it pumped it to 85 psi in 150 strokes with no drama. I'd hate to endorse it BUT....apparently there are a few small pumps worth looking at. IIRC it took < 100 pumps for a Silca XL to get a 700X23 tire to 85'ish psi.

My normal pump that I carry when I am riding something that will not accommodate a full size frame pump is this "Silca Baby". It fits inside my jersey pocket without sticking out. It takes longer to pump a tire than does a larger pump, but it has a two stage action and is surprisingly effective. It has gotten quite a few group rides moving again when CO2 cartridges or Chinese mini pumps have failed. With the sale of Silca, they are no longer made and are pretty hard to find, but are worth tracking down for their remarkably small size and reliable effectiveness....

You need the proper Campagnolo support that clamps to your frame. The coolest one was integrated into the donwtube shifter body, but eliminated the possibility to mount a bottle on the DT.
