Correct. Special rental in the name of "work" (which now has me camped out in the AZ desert for a two week stint). At least it's less humid than Michigan.

I sat in this - it's a lot more polished inside, a GT.

The new Vette is something that's growing on me. Pretty much everyone on the street turns their head to see it.

Gotcha. My apologies. I do wonder how some people rotate through expensive vehicle after expensive vehicle, never seeming satisfied with what they've got despite burning thousands and thousands of dollars to arrive at that disappointment.

    grump alert:

i'm a longtime BMW fan, and have driven many many k's of miles in various iterations. all bought used, all had the inline-6 engine and three pedals. all RWD.

on a whim i took a peek at the BMW webpage to see the current offerings, what the hell is going on over there?

-apparently there is no more 3-series coupe
-you can NOT get a 3'er wagon with a manual
    -the 1 series is gone
-the X1, which looks pretty utilitarian on the street at least is only available with a turbo-4 and again, NO manual option
-4-series cars? why did they do this? why didnt they keep the 3'er coupe alive instead?

thank god my little 3-coupe is still in great shape, looks like i'll be driving that for a lonnnng time.

I am not sure what you're doing here, but I do think it's funny. I mean, unless you're Chinese, what's the problem?

The 4-series coupe and the 3-series coupe are identical. It's the same car with a new nomenclature. (And apparently Chinese people don't like the number four, because the word four sounds like the word death in Mandarin Chinese.

Likewise, the 1 is now the 2 although it's a new model. As BMWs always do, it's expanded. Might be the same size as your old 3. The X1 doesn't appeal to me but does come with a turbo 6 and is supposed to be a blast to drive. As to no manual, this is something you might just have to get over, if you want a selection of new cars. I chose lightly used for this reason.

same thing over at audi. been driving audis since 1997. apparently a sporty, stick shift wagon with all wheel drive is no longer something they feel the American customer base should be able to choose.

Lately I've had the urge to get myself one of these. I don't need a million horsepower and these are fun to drive. I've heard a new model is arriving in 2015.... We'll see.

Whats stupid about 0 to 100 to 0 is 12 seconds on the city streets.

12 free seconds on the road in the Bay Area - hah! I prefer the bathroom with a tablet.
