You forgot, this beautiful gal is from Nashville.. My wife loves this time of year, i listen to soul music at night and dance northern soul on our hardwood floors, like it is the Wiggan. My 5 year old girl yells, "keep the faith!!!,' every time i do the 360* spin to Russian, dancing bear, leg kick. No Shit..

New-ish band out of Atlanta. Ruby Velle and the Soulphonics. Obvious comparisons to Amy Winehouse here, but much more authentic soul than modern pop-soul.

I'm pretty familiar with Motown and larger names, so I'm looking for the records that never quite emerged on the charts or have been forgotten. bonus if the tracks are upbeat and even danceable. I've been digging into all that "northern soul" (what a dumb name) stuff, but what else is out there? any tips? give me the authentic real deal soul.

Have you ever heard of Clever Jeff? He is an independent artist out of the San Francisco Bay Area. His songs tell great love stories and he has a great sound.
