Re: Sometimes, people just suck...
I understand, man. People do it everywhere, and it sucks. I'm sorry.

Re: Sometimes, people just suck...
Incredible.
Be very interesting to read the perp's response. Better not hold your breath waiting for it though.

Re: Sometimes, people just suck...
Stuff like this sucks. Thing is, the person who did it is most likely pretty new to the sport, and ignorant and just doesn't 'get it' yet. They thought they were doing a good thing. We have that happen a lot around here, and our trails are NOT technical at all, but any little bumpy bit people seem to want to ride around or smooth out somehow. People seem to think MTBing is about going fast all the time. I bitch and moan CONSTANTLY about logs getting cut off the trails. A 6" log in a straight section of trail should be left! We've come up with a neat solution tho...hopefully people will be cool about it.

Why do people feel the need to list all of their bikes in their signature?

Re: Sometimes, people just suck...
Thanks guys, tough to know that this type of ignorance affects our trails regardless of location, language, or society.
I do not expect anyone to come forward, but with over 16000 FB views on the post in less than 24 hours, I hope the individual is at least made aware of his transgression.

I hate it when singletracks are transformed into highways. Hope Dustin's solution works.

Re: Groovy Cycleworks
Michael sent a frantic email...
Rody,
I hate to ask because I know how busy you are and I know you aren't taking repairs in anymore, but can you maybe take a quick look at Karen's B-side... I knocked over an unused lally column I had in the basement and it dinged the drive side chainstay. No cracks as far as I can tell, but kind of a deep dent. It's certainly not a high end frame, but Karen is kind of attached to it (she named it).
Read more and see the exciting pictures here... Groovy Cycleworks 330-988-0537: Dented B-side...

I missed it first time, so I just reposted to the FB. Elevate the game by reducing the ignorance eh?

needed a few day's distraction...
I've been pushing hard to finish the balance of bar orders for the year so I can focus solely on full builds and have reached the eventual burn out.
Needed to take two days off and focus on something not bike related.
My grandfather had always painted, mostly farm/western scenes on slate that he hand hewed. I have always felt that I pulled some of my artistic talent from him, so decided to step out and try something new.
First attempt at brush and canvas...

Really learned a LOT. So many things I would do differently next time to improve the quality, but it was enjoyable to casually work away at it to take my mind off of life.
Can see this translating to a new set of skills for frame finishing (or I may just keep the brush work to myself)

weekend of service...
Gave up the weekend to give back to the community.
Saturday Emily and I stood out for "Fill the Boot", our annual charity drive to collect funds for MDA. Though sweaty and hot, we both had fun and collected 2800.00 in donations from our generous community members.

Sunday was spent in the shop creating custom medals for the opening race of the Ohio Interscholastic High School League...

Please, take some time and give a little of yourself back to others as well (something more than dumping a fucking bucket of cold water on your head)
Oh, besides bike work this week, I also made a custom stainless steel frame for the painting...

Re: weekend of service...
That's amazing Rody.
A lot more than "just a frame builder" there

That's how I like to think of my customers too...a lot more than just income, but someone I hope enjoys my products and makes them a part of their lifestyle. Very seldom am disappointed, lots of great folks in the cycling world.

Fall roundup...
It's been a whirlwind fall. In addition to working forward on custom commissions, I also had the Ohio High School Mountain Bike series and our 331 Racing Promotions fall events to put on, so it's been a hectic run.
That all said, here are some pics of some of the custom trophies, medals, bikes, and a snippet of a feature in a German magazine that came out of the shop the last two months...not all encompassing, but a nice taste of what's been going on.

A look into the shop...
for a little machine driven tapping.

Re: A look into the shop...
Does this mean that I need to be ready to buy cranks in the near future?
